Winter’s icy breath whipped and wound its way through the trees of the small village in the northern part of Washington. Snow smothered the frozen ground with glittering lethality. Not even the bravest of creatures ventured out into the frigid air. No creature except Yoki.
Yoki was a tough girl of fifteen years. She walked stubbornly against the mocking winds, tossing her short, tangled, auburn hair defiantly, as if to say, “You can’t keep me inside.â€

Me living in Washington Issaquah this was delightful to think of snow. We only get it like once a year and it never gets so cold that milk frezzes. I love that.
