Hi,
I had a couple of people asking to read the story I'm hoping will become a manga, and so I'm finally posting the prologue, yay!

Author: Souba
Title: Dark World: Kara's Creed
Rating: PG, but I must warn you that this isn't a light hearted tale, it's very sad.
Summary: This is the prologue to Kara's story so it talks about her past and what starts her down the road to destroy Tearis Co. It's told from her POV.

My world used to be a free world, but that was many years ago when I was still a child. We never saw it coming, neither the growth of Tearis Co. nor the mounting control of this super power in the world. It’s logo over the past ten years began to appear in our homes steadily until it covered every faucet of our lives. Branding our hearts forever with remorse for steps we should have taken to stop its veining growth.
On the night of Necmare 23, 1000dc was when it all began. I sat at my window bench watching as my father took a seat in the hover craft carrying him away. He told me that he to meet with someone in the company but he would be back in time to tuck me in. I remember being happy and secure as I saw the gray craft disappear behind the corner, my small hand was still clutching the small silver star necklace, a birthday present that had been my mother’s, My father have given it to me only minutes before. As I pulled myself away I heard the beginnings of a rumble not that different from thunder. The sound which I had expected to die down instead grew steadily louder. My uncle who stayed behind to watch me noticed the sound and joined me at the window seat. It wasn’t long until I saw a faint red glow off in the distance followed by clouds of smoke. The corner that my father had just disappeared to sudden sprang to life with flames and falling metal debris. Before I could conclude what was happening my uncle grabbed me and pulled me under the dining table. The deep rumble became deafening making the house shake and rock like I had never seen before. Parts of the ceiling began to crack and chip falling all around us at the same time fires burst outside the windows making the glass melt and run down. I think I was crying but I couldn’t hear the sound of it over what I now knew were explosions. Then as soon as it began it stopped. For a few moments an eerie silence fell with the sound of fire and water in the background. Then the sirens began to wail followed by the sounds of anguish and shock of those who had survived. My uncle who had never let go of me took me through the rubble of what had once been a house and carried me outside. We were both cover in dust, ash, and sweat as we made our way into the street drawn by a curious need to see the extent of the damage.
Many of the houses on our block had been reduced to rubble and the few that were still standing were on fire or flooded by broken water mains. I could see a few people walking around in a dazed state unsure of what to do next. My uncle finally let me slip from his grip to the pavement. The downtown buildings that had once stood off in the distance were now all gone, except for one, Tearis Co. I saw the look on the faces of people around us as they tried to find their loved ones. I didn’t know what that look was until years later when I saw it in my own eyes, despair. He scanned the area looking for anyone who was in the most need his help, when his eyes found a thirteen year old boy sitting on the sidewalk holding his head in his hands.

Say, is this whole story isolated to a location (Ex a city)? If so, I'm wondering how the global political system is responding to this Tearis Co. since they sound like some evil dictator group heh. I'll be checking this out whenever I can. ^^
