Excused.
Alot of it is raunchy, but between common sense and the ratings selector you can filter all of that out. What's left varies in quality, but overall there are a lot of interesting things on there.

I believe we have discussed it before, but not recently, so this thread is acceptable.
Yes, I am an author on fanfiction.net (take your pick of url). Actually, I do not read there with great regularity. What is scary is the number of Harry Potter works.
The sad thing is the majority (vast majority) of what you find on fanfiction.net is work of terrible quality, designed only for the author's self-gratification. And sadly, most people on the site are looking for exactly that. Most quality works are ignored by nearly all the patrons of the site. On the other hand, there are quite a few good authors and quite a few diamonds in the rough.

Very true. 90% of it is totally awful writing.

The awful writing part is why I've quit going to ff.net. Repeatedly. Everything is crap, and the few good stories that are there are completely ignored. =/ Sad, really.

I don't go often, I was just checking it out the other day and that's why I posted here.
Sometimes they're so bad it's good for laughs.

On the subject of them being good for laughs...

Yes, that is shameless self-promotion. It is a story inspired by the amount of annoyance fanfiction.net generates. I may update it eventually... but I seriously doubt I will ever come up with something else refined enough to be worthy of posting.

That thing is great! Hilarious! (Aw, come on...update it!)

I have a lot of material, just never enough to be neatly in one category. Presenting shoddy work to make fun of shoddy work would be a bad idea.
If I updated, however, would you prefer to see more whole-sale mockery of fanfiction, or more development of the characters and world the story takes place in? That is a general question for anyone.

Definitely wholesale mockery of fanfiction.

Good piece, UC. Keep it up. Personally, I think you should work more on the mockery part, letting your character build itself throghout. For a character like this, there's not much advancement can be had, mostly just revealing more as you go. The rate it goes throughout this is pretty good, although it could have been a bit slower.
I like that. A good one to show to friends.

Wholesale mockery it is, then. Though I do insist that the recurring characters will develop some throughout the story (that is a given). The only people that will really play more than one role, however, are Brian, Brian's computer and two characters you haven't met yet. Actually, there is a great deal of character development to be had, but I won't go there, or at least not quickly.
We'll see if I can work something up worthy the original.

Not to be stubborn/selfish, but would any of you be so kind as to actually review the story in a fanfiction.net sense? Hearing from you (CAA or otherwise) is obviously the highest priority, but many people do judge stories by review numbers.
anonymous wrote:ooh~! are you going to update soon? this one is definitely the most original storyline that i have ever seen on fanfiction.net (although there really arent that many other good ones to compare with.. >_> ugh. crappy authors)
what other titles will you satire? answer with an update, please? XD
Sorry, not the type of answer you wanted.
My problem is essentially this: though there are thousands of titles that could be satired, all are essentially bad in the same way. To keep my own story original, I need to find new ways of being bad. I never seem to have enough of these of a similar type to create another chapter.

I have quite a number of random ideas in a variety of genres... perhaps I just need to make a chapter in the Misc section to force myself to work. This story isn't coming together easily...
anonymous wrote:reviewed! =3
Thank ye kindly.
anonymous wrote:um... my humble suggestions.. >_>:
- something about how many outhors think that pure dialogue makes sense with no actual descriptions of what is going on (or max. up to 2 sentence descriptions every once in a while).
- how events never make any sense and when you cant tell POV, setting changes, and reality/flashback differences
- events are random, spontaneous, dont follow logical reasoning, and serve no real purpose other than just for romance, action, stupid humor, or other such genre types in which they write so terribly that they have to do this.
- author groups consisting of untalented friends who review and act as ego boosters for each other (*sigh* all the good authors on there tend to be loners....)
You have some good ideas in that list. I'll at least keep them in mind.
anonymous wrote:hey would you mind if i quoted that last paragroaph of your profile in my sig here? incentive: help promote your fanfiction account.
i find it very much hilarious! XD
The last paragraph is "information" on myself, correct? Certainly.
