The Quiet Grove
By John T. Mathis

Come away with me,
To a sunny wood,
Where birds chirp from trees,
And soft green grass covers the floor like a carpet.

Come see the small, warm old church,
Stained glass glistening,
Smooth stone walls,
A beacon in the woods.

Come and smell the burning fireplace,
That wafts on a crisp autumn wind,
Warmth that glows.
A fire that proves love’s not lost.

Come and sit on the soft carpeted ground,
Grasp the earth,
Fell it slip through your fingers.
The ground grows gently.

Come and look at the entire painting,
Not to close,

Not

Too

Far.
Take it all in.

Come and listen to the calm breeze,
It echoes, “adventureâ€

John T. Mathis, you have very nice poetry.

That being said, however, please post all your poetry in one thread if possible, because right now you are hogging up the writing section by placing a new thread for every single poem you write. This is quite unfair to many of the other poets, who have threads dedicated to their poetry like sheherazade, Icarus, Rachel and even writers like Madeline. Each time you post by starting a thread, you bump your stuff up and the rest of the writers unfairly get bumped waaaaay down.

So please, out of courtesy, stop filling the writing section with only your work - it's very selfish, and I'm sure you did this not realizing what you were doing.

Well, live and learn, and then start a poetry collection thread. I look forward to reading what you put in yours. You have such wonderful use of language. Personally, I like having a thread for my poetry because as I add more poems, having them all together helps me to start to see how my poetry develops and prgresses. I think that it is interesting to see the subtle shifts in it.
