I hope that no one misunderstands what I am trying to say in this poem. Someone in my senior seminar for Verse Writing asked me if I was trying to be cynical about God, and that isn't at all what it is. Without God I am nothing! So, please feel free to PM me if you have any questions in regards to this poem... thanx, Beth
"WE"
Through the opaque window of Darwinian theory,
we questioned the truth of our existence.
Primordial fluids running through evolution's veins
our reality metamorphosed into Scientific processes
imposed on God's grand design.
We cry out, our voices captured within-
Praise Allah, Yaweh, my Savior!
worldy temptations troubling our souls, lost
in this swirling pool of desolation...
we seek council in
pastors, priests, shaman, but
what truly stands between them?
ideology twisted
like light through prisms,
symbols of what our lives should represent
but were never realised.
They do gymnastics on white-washed walls
inscribed laws on stone tablets
carried the cross of Jesus through war torn streets
yet, we designated our own truths in mind-altering functions-
based reality on mysticism and
swore we still believed.
White noise ripped through our mindless ramblings
and we tried to remember the conquests
blood shed for faith-
crucifix, star of david, pentacles
forbidden practices
Affect adn Karmic delight
In the end, we're all trying to reach Nirvana,
reincarnate faithlessness impacted by
liquid rainbows, silver
starlit rooms where our shadows intertwine
in lack lustre confusion of
Big Bang theory
evolved to this disinterest in
tendrils framing angelc faces
bowed down in worship to the airwaves
media
dictating our actions.
