Prologue
October 8th, 1972
Destinee lay sprawled out amongst the wild grass. She stared blankly at the winding creek that ran in front of her. Memories, painful memories of the day swam through her brain like fish swam through water. Cold memories. Destinee was accustomed to this though. Everyday of her life had been this way. Ever since…She knew what she was about to do. She planned it all the way to the last detail. Death now seemed to be the clear escape. The only escape from the Hell of her life. She’s been tormented by many, but, her biggest tormentor of all was herself.
There’s safety in the water…
Destinee sat up. She drew her knees all the way up to her chin. Her course hair blew wildly along with the wind. Destinee couldn’t wait to get to get this over with.
I wonder if it hurts to die…
She would find out soon enough. Death seemed to be the solution to her problems. Life had become so unbearable after the death of her husband Noah. She felt that she couldn’t continue on without him. He died a tragic death…killed by his own brother.
The day of his death played in her mind like an everlasting movie. A movie in which it’s major character is to die over and over again. She remembered the fear that came over his handsome face as his brother pointed the trigger at him. She remembered the blood that splattered on her white dress. She remembered him collapsing to the ground in a bloody heap. She remembered his last words. “I love you.â€
