I would recommend the manga that goes to your favorite animes first and one piece... I like everything I've read from shonen jump and it's pretty cheap so you might want to try them too.

Yeah, I'd say go with whatever anime you like. Judging by your avatar, you probably like Trigun. The Trigun and Trigun Maximum mangas are good. Similar to the anime, but different. I haven't read very much manga, but I subscribe to Shonen Jump, and it's quite a bargain. I collect some of the SJ graphic novels as well. (Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Bleach, and Hikaru no Go.) I'm also getting into Ranma 1/2, but be warned that it has some casual nudity in it. Mostly of Ranma, who is a boy-turned-into-a-girl, so it's kind of different. Uhh, that's all I can think of to say at the moment. Good luck and have fun reading. You might also check out the "Manga Mania!" forum.

Um, I'm not really sure what you mean by "Iffy". I highly recommend Fruits Basket. It's VERY funny, and the story is really unique. You have to read it. Actually I sorta consider Fruits Basket a mang classic. It's a must read.

Thanks guys again. I am seriously thinking about getting either Trigun manga or Fruits Baskets. I heard a lot of good stuff about Fruits Basket.

I would definately pick Fruits Basket over the Trigun manga. From what I have heard/read, the Trigun manga is much bloodier than the series. Fruits Basket is pretty much clean though. The "iffy" part would probably be reference to Ayame (who is pretty flamboyant and feminine), his relationship to Shigure and Hatori (some would have you believe them to all three be lovers or something weird like that), Shigure's off-colored comments about high school girls (he's got a reputation for being a bit of a pervert) and Hatsuharu's little stunt in school (at least in the anime; dunno if that exists in the manga). Most of it though, if you chose not to think in that way and be mature, it doesn't bother you one bit. I'd have no reservations about recommending this series. Also, Kyo has a bit of a hotheaded mouth and lets off a few d's, but other than that I see no reason not to look into this fantastic series.

Just as Ashley stated, there are some questionably gay characters in the manga. I'm really not sure any of them are truly homosexual though. There are many reasons to think otherwise. Shigure likes high school girls alot and has quite a reputation for being a pervert. By the second volume of the manga we know Hatori was very much in love with a young lady and probably is still in love with her. There are a couple comments made by Hatsuharu about him having a crush on Yuki, but he's quite a popular bishie, so I figure he must sort out his homosexual feelings before the end of the series (I sure hope he does. He's just too cute.) I don't know about Ayame because I haven't gotten to him yet. From what I hear, if anybody's gay it's probably him, but he's not much of a major character as far as I understand.

Definitely read Fruits Basket. I've read the first three volumes three times, I love them so much! I'm an addict and I'm proud of it.

fruits basket was pretty clean but what i ment by iffy is that some mangas are pretty heavy on the innuendos and sex. generally i flip the manga over and check the rating before i buy it. as a general rule, anything 13 and under isn't that bad.

A few points:
1. Please stay in topic. Posts about a specific topic may tend to drift, but a question to a specific person, especially one completely off-topic should probably go through PM rather than via the main forums.
2. Emoticons are usually used to denote some form of emotion. Randomly spacing them into the middle of a post can be confusing.
3. Don't double post. We allow you to edit your posts for a specific reason.
4. Most importantly, please read our FAQ, which contains lots of information about these kinds of things. Also, it contains some important information on soliciting personal information from people. You are not yet in violation, and I am hoping to help you keep it that way.
