Megatokyo rocks!! I even have the first two in manga format. Ping is cute and I really like L33T even though a bunch of my friends think I am strange.

Poor Piro-san so dense when it comes to romance. . . :)

One day, I hope to get the books. And maybe that baka^ni t-shirt. Or that NINJ4 hoodie. Yeah. Megatokyo is good, although it has sort of shifted from the gaming emphasis a bit.

Megatokyo rocks!  I want an 3vil l33t t-shirt. ^_^ And a Boo. "We need guns, Boo."

Scarily enough, one of my friends is a lot like Largo. O.o He's uber fun to hang with though.

So, what's megatokyo about? *hangs her head, for--alas-- she does not know everything*

In essence, Megatokyo is about two gamers who become trapped in Japan. The first is Largo, a spazzing maniac who likes weaponry. With him is Piro, your typical shojou male character. About half the manga is Largo's wierd delusions, which involve monsters, giant robots, evil, etc, and the other half is romance stuff with Piro.

There is actually more than one thread on this subject, by the way. As a general rule: at least look for threads before posting new ones on a given topic.

My favorite character is Junpei. If I were to burn my money on any of the products, it would definitely be a N1NJ4 hoodie.

There are around 600 -700 pages now but it goes by fast. Always i repeat always read the dom and ed cartoons (they are little stick people) happy reading!

I read MT regularly (and by that I mean I check for updates daily).
I own both books, and am looking at getting some of the shirts from it.
It happens to be the webcomic that got me into webcomics.

My first Webcomic was Badtech, which has since fallen off the face of the earth (kinda like Ubersoft with a game company done with POVRay to generate the images in the panels)... anyway..... Megatokyo became a quick favoriate with me once I was turned onto it.

The "Capture the b34r" poster/shirt always reminds me of my Mom's boyfriend... he's a big fan of beer.... if he wasn't so vastly removed from games I'd get him one.

I've got to get the 2nd book, and I'd like (for consitancy and completeness) get a 2nd copy of the 1st book now that it's carried by Dark Horse (I've got the original one).

My quickbar on Firefox has 2 forums and the rest are full of web comics that I check almost daily (though many are only updated 2-3 times a week).... Megatokyo being one of them.

I have the original copy, if you get the dark horse version please let me know if it is any better than the original. Thanks

I agree with mechana2015. There's even a gallery of Fred's MT concept art that he's never put online.

Ooooh! Cool. I'll have to check out the Dark Horse version of vol. 1. I own the original, along with volume 2, and am a long-time MegaTokyo fan. I'm a fan of Kimiko, but all the characters are entertaining--Largo is indeed funny, though I relate more to Piro myself.

Not a bad comic, but not my favourite either. I'd say that Largo was my favourite character, at least in the older strips (when it was a two-man show).

Okay that settles it, next chance I get the Dark horse version is as good as bought.

I like Largo-sensei, he's my fav for the guys, though I don't quite care for his nude l337 stuff.

Nanasawa and Seraphim are soooo cute! *Fan boy mode*

This was one of my first webcomics that I stumbled upon and I was hooked. I really like it, it's so entertaining and fun to read. I especially love Fred's artwork. He has a very original and distinctive style to his art, that's so cute to look at. He is quite a talented artist. Next time I go to Suncoast or wherever, I'll probably pick up the first volume or so. It would be fun to re-read the beginnings again.

That's what makes it Megatokyo and not Penny Arcade... Well, that and better art, more intelligent story, much more coherent (until some recent strips, I mean)... But, mostly the fact they aren't entirely focused on games.

It did have one resounding bad effect. It popularized 1337sp34k among the average internet user, and that (1337) stopped being cute a long time ago, IMNSHO... Right along with Bananaman...

I got Piro. I didn't think I gave that many Piro answers. Like it says though, it could be worse. I could be Largo. :)

Dom. Interesting.

Then again, it's a personality quiz with five questions...

Yup, and if you read the strip, you can tell which answers go with which character. I read it irregularly and I could tell the Piro and Largo answers real easily.

Sad Girls in Snow!

I've become a Megatokyo regular, and now have the books as well.

For a while, I'd thought Fred had lost his way. The story line kind of meandered, without really advancing. But with today's comic, I see where he's headed... if he could tie up a couple loose ends, I think it will get back on track nicely.

I like Fred's (and Seraphim's) ability to capture the essence of some of the otaku culture and communicate it. Sure, I'd like a few more references to the video game culture again, too, but you can only do so much.

Fred's art style has really matured, too. It's fun to watch it as he gets more sophisticated with both the line art and the presentation.

Overall, well worth checking into, if you haven't done so already.

On the quiz, I got Erika. ^_^ That's cool.

Has anyone been to the new megagear store yet? I want some of the stuff, but my parents don't let me get anything online. *sniffles* But if I could get stuff, I'd get the magic coff33 +1 mug and the cool thing mousepad. :thumb:
