I saw this at Borders and wondered how it was. I mostly allowed to get T rated manga and the art was pretty. Good enough to get? Clean? Let me know.

I know zilch about this, but I've been wondering too. So, come on people-- Angel and I grow impatient. Answer or feel out wrath. Bwahahahaha!

It was origionally a card game, from what i hear, that was turned into a manga.
"Sixteen year old Mana returns to her hometown to unite with her childhood sweetheart after 7 years. But Kaname seems to have changed during their years apart. Mana's presence sets off a chain of events that changes the lives of Kaname and his best friend Naoya forever. Their classmates Isshin and Tsukasa, and their teacher Tomonori find themselves drawn to her as well.
They soon discover that they are all a part of the Aquarian Age - a secret war raging for thousands of years. Now the fate of the world hangs in the balance as one girl meets her destiny."
It's quite a complex plot, but I find it quite good~!...the only thing I don't like is that the book cover is so hard...>.> You can hardly bend/open these books..gr...
lol, if you don't understand what i'm talking about, just try and open one of the JO books...lol...^-^''
oy, and i keep getting Kaname and Naoya mixed up too~! lol...maybe that's jsut me though. ^O^''
"Warnings and Suggestions: Childhood trauma, and some fairly bloody hand-to-hand combat scenes. There's a bit of implied homosexuality, but it's done subtly, blink and you miss it (except for maybe in the 4-panel gag comic strips)."

Thanks. I'll ask my mom about it. The art is so pretty, and I don't think she'll care about "childhood trauma".

Yeah, JO just jumped several slots on my to-read list. I hadn't looked at this one before, but the title never attracted me. But I like the synopsis.
******* sometime later**********
I'm updating this post so I don't have to double post. I just read Juvenile Orion, and it's really awesome. It was pretty clean--strickly speaking. I didn't pick up on most of the homosexual undertones, so the subtly of this is extreme. Um, let's see. Yeah there is some blood. I'd also like to mention that a certain character experiences a transformation of sorts that SOUNDS like demon possession. If someone just picked it up they might think it was. Plus, there's a character who's dressed as a priest who sorta acts as if he's trying to throw a demon out of another character.
Also, as the title would indicate, there are some allusions to the zodiac. I think the character get some of their magical girl-- or magical BOY, in this case, powers from the zodiac. I'm not really sure about this. I was vaguely confused by this.
Just as a note, there are quiet a few bishies with their shirts off. It doesn't bother me, but I just thought I'd give you the heads up incase you wanna know everything at MIGHT bother your mom. Once again, I'm sure that's not a problem, but I'd hate for you to be surprised by anything.
But I REALLY did like it. It reminded me alot of DNAngel(s?). *Looks around and lowers her voice to a whisper* I liked it more than DNAngel(s?) though.

Weird. . . Did you guys know that by teh 16th of next month (june) there should be 3 volumes out!? I haven't even seen the second one. Has anyone else?

Nope. But I haven't looked, really.

Oh, the second volume is rated 16+, just so y'all know. I read it a couple days ago.

Do you know why?

Yeah, I do know way. Okay, ahem:
1) More violence. Most noticeably at one point when one guy runs himself through with a sword and we see him for like 3 pages. Bleh.
2) There is some nudity. We see one very undetailed frame of Mana with her arms over her chest and then one more detailed frame of her lying curled up on her side. She had her hands over her chest, but she's still naked.
That's all I can think of now. I'll update if more comes to mind. But I think it definitely deserved the 16+ rating that it got.
What am I doing here. . . .

*guy sneaks into forum*
Uhh. . . I like JO too. . . . Mana's cute. As a guy I didn't see the Yaoi stuff either. Hope my input is helpful. Must check to see if JO2 was really like that . Violence doesn't phase me, sorry. .
*Dashes to manga stash* *Returns with JO2.*
Oh! (1)that sword part. . . (2)yeesh I didn't even notice those. . .
Add to that the girl lying on the be near the end has awfully skin tight sheets on. . . . . a single page of a somewhat bloodied kusakabe. . . and kawaii Mana getting poked in the back by needle feathers. Other than that I only see the lack of shirts. - - - - -
*Guy runs out of thread quickly. . .*

Thats probably really true, but it also shows you have some sense. Something I seem to need more of. . . . . . .
I knew there was violence, but I could only remember kusakabe-kun as being violent. I was shocked that I totally forgotten the 2 sword stabbings.
Theres the one where that one is forced to do it by the enemy mind breaker
Then there is the other guy who just killed someone in the road. .
I thank you for pointing the violence out to me.
Off Topic: I think I hadn't noticed it because most of the manga I own is pretty violent. Shaolin Sisters, Rebirth, Samurai Girl: RBHS, Sister Red, and Dragon Knights, for example.
*Realizes topic is on JO and how
good it is not how violent it is or other manga is.. .*
One quick Plus, Mana-chan is CUTE!
*Leaves abruptly. . . *
ooc:I am enjoying this way too much, ne?

I was vaguely impressed with Juvenile Orion when I saw the first volume. The art was good, but art isn't everything.
Despite my best efforts, I found myself highly interested in the priest character. I guess men of the cloth just make unique characters. While I'm absolutely certain he'll be a terrible example of a priest (given that he's already tried to cast a demon out of a main character), I still find myself interested.

*Returns all too fast and trips*
*Thud!*
*Stands up quickly,*
"I have useless but fun tidbit about JO. Original title is Orion no Shounen."
"O-ree-o-n' no Show-nen Cool, ne?"
*Leaves again*

I've seen it, but I didn't read it. I was disappointed by the 2nd volume, so I'm sorta scared to go any further.

I like JO, it's what X1999 should've been (that series is so over-rated). To add to what UC said, the priest character is very interesting (and pretty!!!) but there are a few hints of yaoi between him and Tsukasa *gags*. It's worth reading.

Mmm, saw the third one, marveled at prettyful cover, flipped through it because I'm not allowed to get Older Teen manga, turned green at the sight of
a wing being ripped out of someone's back (by the roots) *shivertwitch*
, ran like a scared puppy over to CCS.

Yeah, there's some really stupid violence in JO. Which is a major shame. *pauses a moment to lament that she can no longer feel good about reading JO* Glad that's over. . . *moves on to hunt down other obscure, bishie packed manga.*

I've onyl ever read the first volume and it was great. But, the comic store guy told my friend that they were banned from being sold in Canada :/ Apparently it's not true, but I still can't find any on shelves :/ *cries*

*Looks frantically for the third one. . *
*
Sees Sister Red 2 and Juvenille Orion 3
*
*Big decision. . . . takes 20 min to decide. . . *
*Snatches Sister Red 2 decides to come back for JO 3 later.*
So, basically I haven't read the third yet. I'll let you know soon though. I hope.

Tell me how it is when you read it, k?

Definitely will. Might take a day or 5 though. .
Other comment though, I think some of the violence was a little overdone, but most of it fits the war situation. If anything I look at it as another reason war isn't pretty, but at least I can try and think of the JO crew as "good guy's."
