Will some kind person please direct me to a site that has translations or a
dictionary for all those Japanese sound effect symbols? I just started
reading manga about three months ago and would really appreciate it.
You will be my friend forever if you do.

Many manga have references in the back as to the meanings of the sound effects... I know it's annoying to keep looking them up but maybe you could write them down to help remember them. All in all I think it's better than when they just edit the sound effects in English, because it looks better in Japanese.

Naruto translates the sound effects correct? I kinda like them though cause they are funny sounding such as "tak", "pong" or "kaboosh".
On my Evangelion mangas, they have the translations in the back of each sound effect in that volume which is super handy.

Once you learn kana, things get a whole lot more interesting, though the references help for the obscure stuff-- I always wondered why they had Yukari and the foreigner saying "pera pera" in Azumanga Daioh until I found that it meant speaking a foreign language fluently
