Jing King of Bandits
Project ARMS
Apocalypse MEOW
Cyborg 009
Gundam Episode Zero

What about...

Clover by CLAMP;

Magic Knights RayeEarth by CLAMP;

BLAME! by Tsutomu Nihei;

+ANIMA by Mukai Natsumi;

Alichino by Kouyu Shurei (They are starting to publish it in english!)

The only one I know is avaible in english is Alichino (because I searched for it from Amazon). But You really might not like these ones... ^-^;;

Try Mobile Police Patlabor, Hikaru No Go, MegaTokyo, or Nausicaa of the valley of wind. Those are some really great titles that I have really enjoyed. They're all pretty much shonen too, so they'd be right up your alley according the the other titles you've listed above.

well what do you like? Do you mind violence? What do you draw the line at? Then I'm sure people could better suggest to you titles.

*thinking* Saiyuki is pretty good, besides some questionable content... you could always take The Pen to it....

Edit: and believe me, you just listed a very small portion of the manga out there. If all else fails, head to ur local Barnes n Nobles/Borders and pull a "sit and read". Much fun.

I'll throw an additional vote in for Hikaru No Go, that's a much better than yer average "enthusiastic youngers picks up a sport" type manga.

If all else fails, head to ur local Barnes n Nobles/Borders and pull a "sit and read".

Why, you almost make it sound like there's something ELSE Barnes & Noble is for! ;)
