Well, the station playlist died today, but I took the time to rebuilt it, improve it, and add the following albums to the playlist:

Regenerator - War
Midnight Syndicate - The 13th Hour

Umm... so wow, this really cool Gothic, New Wave, Darkwave, and Post-Punk 'Net label, Afmusic, which can be accessed at http://af-music.de/, just gave me a whole independent record label worth of material to digest. So far I've managed to listen to and add the following albums to the station:

The Transisters - Under Control
Noctiflora - 04/07
The Forced Oscillations - On The Road
Plastique Noir - Urban Requiems
Split Seconds - So sad about it all

I'm digging your station, Ghost. I never realized how much overlap there was in our musical taste (despite my predilection toward pop-punk heh heh). May I recommend a few albums that I think would fit with some of the other albums you have? I realize there's the issue of getting access to them but here are some suggestions...

The Faint's Blank Wave Arcade and Danse Macabre would both fit very well in addition to Fasciination. You could even consider Wet from Birth but I don't think it's as strong as their first two. I see you only have one Nick Cave album and I think his older records such as Tender Prey and Murder Ballads have quite a few excellent songs that The Best Of... neglected (probably to encourage buying the albums...). Also, since you have the second and third mewithoutYou albums up, you should definitely get A->B Life up there. I also think Interpol would be an excellent addition to your station, particularly Turn on the Bright Lights and Antics. Finally, I think you might enjoy some of Seattle's late and almighty Blood Brothers. Despite being continually incorrectly categorized as screamo, I would trace their musical roots back through bands such as Fugazi. Their recent albums had a much stronger emphasis on angular guitars, electronic sounds and dancier rhythms. I think an album like Crimes would fit beautifully.

I hate that it's taken me so long to check your station out. This is a great assortment of bands.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

I'm flattered, thank you! I will keep your recommendations in mind, though like you, I can be a bit slow in getting around to these things. Having been at this for roughly three years now, I have this keen but subtle sense of what kinds of albums both I personally need and the station itself needs at any given moment. It really is a careful balance, though not as much as it used to be when the playlist was smaller. So too, being an avid record collector yourself, if you hear any music you would like to add to your collection, but don't know where to find it, let me know and I'll see if I can find it for you.

Yeah, no problem, man. I just figured those were some records you might not have thought of/hadn't heard of/might want to check out. You have quite a bit of music I've never listened to, as well, and I've been enjoying your station very much since this afternoon.

Actually, I've heard some of at least half of what you're recommending. It's just that when you go as long as I have and learn of so many great records, you have to plan and pace yourself so you don't overspend. Eventually, you find yourself planning at least a month in advance, going so far as to make pretty four square panels in your album notebook with matching musical themes. It's all a bit obsessive, but listeners like the product, so that's ok. I'm glad to hear you've had fun listening to and exploring the music. At 177 hours of it being broadcast, I'm sure you'll always be able to find something fresh.
