fave 80's songs?

Postby rocklobster » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:58 am

As someone who grew up in the 80's, I get a nice whiff of nostalgia every time I hear a song from my youth. Are there any other fans of 80's music here? Let your voices be heard!

I want to contribute to this thread but like...there's too many songs. Like seriously WAY too many. Gyargh.

Well let's see. I'll start with what comes to me from the top of my head but I'm sure later I'll be like "MAN HOW COULD I FORGET THIS."

Juke Box Hero - Foreigner

Why Can't This Be Love - Van Halen

Centerfold - J. Geils Band

Don't Stop Believin' - Journey

She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby

Heat of the Moment - Asia

Money for Nothing - Dire Straits

Smooth Criminal - Michael Jackson

Blargh that's all I can think of for the moment. I know there's more, a lot more I'm forgetting! But this is a good start for my list. XD

The majority of my favorites have already been listed, but here are some more:

You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) --Dead or Alive
I Want a New Drug --Huey Lewis and the News
Power of Love --Early November

And there are many others. I'll be back after I've had time to think (and after a good listen to the local 80's station.)
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

You can listen online. 106.9 The Point is Houston's station and it's a mix of 80's and 90's music. You can also run a general search for 80's online stations and you'll find some great ones.

Another favorite of mine:

Crazy Little Thing Called Love --Queen (and pretty much any other Queen song)

I guess, I was never a fan of them. But this a list of our fave songs from the 80's, so I know that there are going to be some that we are not going to agree on.

I think a good chunk of the 80s songs I know are from metal covers, lol. Some of these might not be 80s, and some I don't know an artist for. Bear with me, even though I really like it, I haven't gotten into a lot of 80s music.

The Cutting Crew - "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" (although I prefer Inked In Blood's rendition)
Bon Jovi - "Livin' On A Prayer"
Journey - "Don't Stop Believin"
"Mexican Radio"
"Always Something There To Remind Me"
Men Without Hats - "Safety Dance"
Corey Hart - "Sunglasses At Night"
Prince - "When Doves Cry"
Michael Jackson - "Beat It", "Thriller", "Billie Jean", "Smooth Criminal", "Man In The Mirror"
The Police - "Message In A Bottle"
Queen - "Another One Bites the Dust"
Rick Springfield - "Jesse's Girl"
Rick Astley - "Never Gonna Give You Up" (enough so to rickroll the audience for my valedictorian speech)
