Boogie Woog on down

Ok... I took two classes last semster: Computer animation and computer illustration... (oh, actually 3... I took English too)

While I didn't make anything worthwile in Illustrator, I used much of my time to screw around with Photoshop... And, well, I also tried my hand at some manga style drawings. Here we go:

PT 1:

3d stuff:

Ok, this one is just a jet... The basic form was part of a tutorial on low poly modeling (of course, I roundified it so it's no longer low poly, it looks like a toy now.)

Image

Mech-Organus... This one I made entirely with no help... And it's pretty obvious. This was the result of totally screwing around... I called it mech-organus because it's mechanical, but it's alive... It's got a mind of it's own!

Image

Finally my aliens... This was before I finished putting materials on them, so you'll notice my alien guy has no pupils... He should have pupils... Just a small change, but there were also more details in mech-organus and in the terrain. There were two trees (albeit crappy looking trees) and everything moves and there is fog at the end... And mech organus and the jet get in a fight, with mechorganus firing missiles at the jet. I got a perfect grade on it, actually. I loved that class! Too bad I moved... Well, not really, but I wish that class was here at my local college...

These are all stills from my final animation from the class. They don't look that great and the Jet was mostly from a tutorial, but the little aliens were my first experiment with humanoid model... (come on, our classes were only once a week and it was my first semester)
That's why I'm enthusiastic about full sail!

that's where I'll be going when I build my credit up enough to get loans that will both pay for tuition and pay my bills (rent, food, insurance) and that will take a while... Probably a couple years... Before I go to full sail, I'm gonna go to Japan... I've got big plans in my future, but they are all dependent on me getting a nice job... Or winning the Lotto, I suppose, but I think you may have to BUY TICKETS to do that (but I can buy candy and oreos! YAY! Come on God, I could really use a mill or so! ^_^)

Yeah, anyone who wants the animation I've only got it in QT format (Sorenson) and it looks like crap because of how low the settings had to be... However it looks much better in motion than it does still (not so with some of my other stuff) So if you still want it I can send it over AIM.

I made some fatal changes to the file after that, and therefore lost my ability to re-render in a much cleaner divx (or a much cleaner QT for that matter)

(more to come later, an example of my modeling that acutally looks sorta pretty despite the mystery second light source casting shadows before I knew how to make only some lights cast shadows and not all of them...)

hmm... no one cares about my "art" well, these were only school assignments... And, I spent a total of maybe 6 hours a week learning that program (well, 3 hours learning, 3 hours lab) so I mean I don't think anyone should expect Pixar and definately not Square... Though, I COULD probably do the early days of "Big Idea" pretty easy (art/animation wise). Not their more recent stuff, though.

Anyhow, thoguht I'd upload some more stuff:

Ok. Well, this little piece of work is my pride and joy, well except for the magical floating cheese and the mysterious second light source... But other than that, oh and the much too, er, green landscape view, it's the best non-animated scene I have built so far. I love it. However, it doesn't look so good when the scene is moved... That setup only works from that angle...

Wow! That's pretty cool. It's amazing how much work goes into 3-D modeling, isn't it? I like the aliens with no pupils, and ... it isn't normal for cheese to float?

Hmmm... thea reason they are burried in this very hellish terrain is because I, um, never modeled legs for them... Also, I modeled their arms in that position because I didn't know how to use the symmetry or the IK chains, so they are both frozen in that same position...

In any case, I would love to show my photoshop stuff off, but it involves real people and I don't know if they'd be all that happy to be shown on this webpage... Even if one of them is on a T-shirt I made for school and I wear all the time... hehehehe... **cough**

Well, I can show it because unless you really know me and this person, you wouldn't recognize here in a crowd or anything from this pic... I think the original pic was great, which I won't show, but I could do just so much with it... Including this... Or not... just saw it, it looks too clear.. man... My best non cg work and I can't show it here...

Ok, instead I'll show my two anime drawings... One I made with a step by step thing from "how to draw manga" the other I did without looking at a book... Of course, this is still just beginning stuff and, well, I didn't have Photoshop to do this with so it's a crappy color job and the lines are very jagged:

This pic is the second one i made... I liked all of it but the eyes (well, and the bad scan/color job... It came from a pencil sketch and I'm still new to this sort of thing) I did another pic and the eyes turned out much better... I am going to have to run it by a mod before I post it, though...

Basically, it is just because I suck at drawing fabric, it is so much easier to draw something that is tight than something loose, and I have a horrible time with wrinkles... I suck at them right now... And so the other pic had a girl with a tight shirt (this pic that I did post I was able to do the sweater and a looser shirt so I didn't have any problems with it) Also, I suck at drawing guys right now... I know it just requires practice but until I get good at it to where I'm comfortable, you won't see any of my male drawings... I only have a few anime style drawings that I'm comfortable with displaying...

Those eyes on the sweater girl are just... wrong, though... eew...
