Hi, I was wondering how many languages each person spoke, or if not that many, how many you'd like to speak and which ones.
I'll start:

Japanese (a bit)
Russian
German
Chinese (Mandarin)
Korean (working on)

Lately I've been teaching my sisters some of the more good natured words I learn from Anime, like sorry. They eat it up.

^Lucky. My parents want me to focus on French and Mandarin Chinese. Whenever I mention wanting to learn any other laguage that isn't as major as those two, my parents are all, ". . . But why?" -___-

I'm impressed, Tigerchu. That's a lot of languages. I'm thinking that the only way I'll ever be better at Japanese is if I go there.

Same here. I'm trying to learn Korean because of some High School friends

Ally-Ann, you'd be surprised as to how many languages one can learn in his or her lifetime. One guy learned 75 by the time he was 75. I've had some friends who've learned 16 languages by the time they were 16 (or approximately the age of 16)

Also, you might try Wikipedia for free articles in a ton of languages and http://tunein.com/search/?query=Big+B for free radio in a ton of languages. Personally I think listening is good for fluency, because that's what kids do, but i also like vocabulary.

Italian (via my Latin and Spanish - I can actually read a small amount of Italian by sight because of it)

Technically Spanish is the 1st language I learned, but I learned both Spanish and English at a young age. I feel more comfortable saying they are both my native languages. Although I'm better at English from practicing it more and using it more because I live in an English speaking country.

I'm at least fluent in Spanish after some practice but then my English suffers. haha

Portugese- I can understand half to most of it in writing, but I only get the gist of what someone is saying when hearing it.

Italian- I can understand few words from knowing Spanish. As long as they have a Latin root. I might learn this one because I'm too lazy to learn a non romance language. haha I'm interested in the culture too though.

I used to be slightly functional in spanish, but since I started learning German, if someone speaks to me in Spanish I want to answer them in German.
Many customers where I work speak Polish, and I've learned how to hear it, but not speak it.
I have done some coursework in Swahili, and picked up some Tsutuhil on a missions trip. Have also studied Greek and Latin some. Oh, and picked up
a bit of Danish for family reunions, but gave it up once I met my German wife.
Oh, and in college I did an analysis of the phonemic structure of Xonga by interviewing a native speaker, but that doesn't really count as learning it.

I bet no one can guess what language I speak.

I speak khoekhoe. I never learned American though.

English is my native language, though I'm trying to get back into Japanese. Perhaps throw in some Norwegian as well.

Wait...I thought you spoke Canadian.

Wow, that's a lot of languages. Are some of these native to you (apart from English) ?

English - ( Mother Tongue )
Deutschland - Rather Well (5 years, I actually prefer German to English most of the time.)
Russian (Russian is sort of complicated for foreign learner, but compared to to Finnish or Japanese it's a picnic in the park. It comes in handy due to the fact that I live in an area with a huge population of native Russian speakers here in Washington State.)
Spanish (Enough to get by)
Swedish (I get by. It's very soft, it flows nicely and is always spoken in a sort of sing-song tune. Svenska tjejer är heta!)
Latin, and from there a basic understanding of many Romance languages.
Romani/Gypsy (Intermediate)

German (native)
English (ok)
Japanese (a little)
French (I had this in school, but forgot most of it)

I wish I could speak English, Japanese and Korean fluently. ^^

I recently just learned about Japanese social norms and stuff from youtube. Like the proper way to eat sushi is in one bite, but you don't always have to (not everyone does this). Also, its considered impolite to blow your nose at the dinner table. You should leave the room to do it. (And again, not everyone may do this).

She tells you as it is, without any attitude (she doesn't think her country's right), and also reassures you that not everyone does the social norm (so you don't have to be perfect. Also, as a foreigner you don't have to be perfect).

Yeah, I think German sounds cool. But I don't prefer it^^U It sounds cool
