Hi!
Every year we watch our own favorite Christmas shows and movies as well as listen to our favorite Christmas music. Maybe because of the Nostalgia we receive from them or because we couldn't have a Christmas without reliving our love for old poetic, comedic, dramatic and/or fantastic stories depicting our everyday lives, dreams, fairy tales and the greatest Christmas story ever told:
ThebirthofSan-*AHEM!*...sorry...
The Birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
With that being said, what are your favorite Christmas shows, movies and music that you love to watch and listen to every year that give you that wonderful pleasant feel for the spirit of the season? I'd love to know!
Here's some of mine off the top of my head:
Movies/Shows:
The Nativity Story (of course)
Alister Sim's A Christmas Carol
A Muppet's Christmas Carol
George C. Scotts A Christmas Carol
Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol
It's A Wonderful Life
The Christmas Toy (The Muppets)
John Grinn's Christmas
A Cosmic Christmas
The Raccoon's Christmas
A Looney Tune's Christmas
The Santa Claus Movie
A Disney Christmas Gift

The Muppet Christmas Carol used to be a tradition in our house. We would watch it every Christmas Eve. Of course that has since kind of faded away but I just bought the DVD so hopefully I can bring it back.

I feel like an overall depressing person, but I love those mildly somber songs you only hear around Christmas! O Come, O Come, Emmanuel; Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (LOVE the way my church does that... I just find it so cool xD); Mary, did you know?; etc.
I also, for some reason, love the smell of the ancient plastic tree we've been using since I was two. It's... kind of musty. But ever so nostalgic. <3
I don't like the Christmas TV specials much, though >>; and the ads this year have been terrible. "MORE CHRISTMAS FOR YOUR MONEY BUY NAO COMMERCIALCOMMERCIAL" bah. It's making me want to proclaim the true meaning even more, though!

My favorite Christmas movie (and favorite movie of all-time) would have to be The Nightmare Before Christmas!
I do enjoy re-watching various cartoon shows that I watched when I was a kid too, for the sake of nostalgia. Like the Peanuts Christmas special, various Disney cartoons (classic ones only), etc. ^_^

I always like to watch The Santa Clause movies, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Forsty the Snowman around Christmas time. I plan on seeing The Nativity Story this year at some point too.

One show I forgot to mention was The Muppet's Family Christmas where they go visit Fozzie Bear's Mother for the holidays.
This show was always a riot and always heartwarming.
It was this TV Movie and The Christmas Toy that introduced me to those wonderful, tear-jerking tunes:
Muppets sing Christmas Carols at 4:15 and at 5:24
Special Surprise at 8:00
A Christmas Toy has a song that makes me cry every-time I hear it...it reminds me how much I still love my Opa and my dog Ginger even though they've both passed away this past year.
For those who have seen A Christmas Toy you'll remember the song Rugby sings. Spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet. It's on Youtube if you want to watch the entire thing from the beginning.
Christmas Toy - Old Friend, Dear Friend
I love how Jim Henson and his team have that ability to tap into the deep, emotional, sad part of our minds, to relate situations like this to our own. I'll always love the Muppets and the late Jim Henson. :')

I always liked It's a Wonderful Life and the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, since it's the only one that actually mentions Jesus, something I doubt could be done these days (:rant:actually, I'm surprised they don't cut out Linus quoting Luke's gospel).

A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Definitely.
We own a few other Christmas movies as well (It's A Wonderful Life, etc.), but I have yet to watch them.

I find nothing is better than bringing out the good ol' Charlie Brown Christmas CD and listening every song over and over again.

That was my *favorite* Dr. Seuss movie/book when I was little!
I should try to find my copy of it so I can read it for the sake of nostalgia. <3
