Hello, sorry it has been so long since I have posted; I have been very busy with classes. Ok here is the question I have, and my problem.
I am writing a 9 page paper for a class on a topic of controversy, and this topic happens to be on the philliosophical issues in the anime Eavngelion, and how christians should react to them. (now I know this anime has been baned. BUT PLeASE can you make this one exception? Or have people PM me on it with out posting on this thread, it can just stay open so they can PM me with there answers)
I need to know every ones ideas on this anime, I need extreems for both why its an awesome anime and why its a bad anime. Argue with my thesis please because in this paper I need extreems.
If you can let me know your feelings on the show evangelion and on this thesis, I would be very very greatful. Please PM me your ideas though because I do not want this thread to be closed. Thanks
Thesis -- All people theists, or not should view Evangelion as a philosophical show that has potential to inrich peoples minds and open new ways of thought; to observe for the better of the human understanding. This show can be used to back up christian ideals or tare them apart depending on how it is viewed.
Thanks again
Lufkin

Shoo says don't discuss, so I can't help you even if I wanted to. You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to post this topic in another thread after it had been for all intents and purposes closed in its original thread. I suggest you don't pursue this further unless you're itching for a ban. Sorry man.

Yeah... PM is allowed, but crossposting isn't. It doesn't matter what the topic is. If you want it to stay here, ask a mod to delete the other one, or vice versa.
Also, the thesis you stated is probably a no-no for this forum, because asking for thoughts on the show in PM shouldn't cause problems, but making a statement like that in these forums probably will.

As Bob, Kev and the wiggy one pointed out, no discussions on this title, however nice and innocent they are to be, are not allowed here whatsoever. Period. I think we made that pretty clear.
I don't mind allowing you to use CAA as a way to research a topic and get opinions on an anime, but the responses need to remain PM only. However, especially since you're dealing with extremes here, please remember to be courteous to everyone.
I repeat: pm responses only. Any responses on this thread proper will be deleted and you will be warned towards a strike (we have a 3 strike system here).
I'm not sure what's going on with the crossposting thing, but I'll check it out in a minute and edit this response as necessary.

Yup, this topics a bit of a no go. I think everyone, NGE haters and lovers alike will agree with me on this one. I'd kinda like to help you but I dont know what the 'insert minor exclamation here' you mean by 'potential to enrich peoples minds'. But then again I'm kinda dumb anyway...

The point of keeping it to PM is it is a much different, isolated realm, really. On board with a controversial matter, it's easy to get caught up and before you know it people are leaving the boards, grudges are formed, etc. etc. etc. And it makes the staff look pretty bad to boot. I don't think it's right to completely cut off discussion on anything remotely controversial, but there's a proper time and place for it. I honestly believe that some discussions, albeit controversial, can be rather enlightening and serve educational purposes, but when you're dealing with a community of hundreds of active members, that's very, very hard to keep on the up and up. However, if you just carry out a discussion in private, it's more one on one and there is usually a general attitude of mutual respect. Plus you always have the option not to respond, whereas on site there's a bit of pressure to defend yourself. PMs are inherently private and more one-on-one and thus it's easier to keep the discussion mature and in control, rather than in "public" on a thread where arguments get ugly fast.
Finally, I have always believed that I will be held solely accountable for the actions allowed on this site, and I hardly need dealing with debates added to my list of responsibilities, especially since I feel I am inadequate to make sure all debates would serve only to edify rather than tear down.
Whether that logic makes sense to you or not is irrelevant; that's the site policy for now and until there is a problem, that's the way it will stay.
