king of the hill is funny and tonights episode...
is alot more relevant.
it talked about our love for rock 'n roll and our lord, and when we mix the two together doesn't really mix quiet well.
if anyone did see it, probably they could explain it better than me.

woo! we're out of egypt! look at moses dance!

Um... having a hard time following you, but actually I found it quite good... Probably the best episode I've seen of it yet... I loved that youth pastor, except for the way he argued with hank, but then at the end HIS dad (the youth pastor's) fixed that problem... The songs he sang were cheesy, and a lot of the things Bobby said (in naivité) were questionable, but the episode made me excited... Especially the Youth Pastor's dad, with the Ten Commandments Tatoo... "Remember #5, son... Don't come between a father and his son!" it was great... I don't think it was meant to be a comment on Christians and rock and roll, but on "traditional" churches vs more "contemporary" churches... I loved it! It's my favorite ep so far! I got it on tape, too... (missed about 2 minutes in the middle)

As for the Christian Video game, I'm sure I'm gonna be the butt of a lot of similar jokes in years to come... but, for now, it IS true... But it's also true there is a feeling of distaste about giving the Gospel in a chewable form for everyone -- that somehow in making it more contemperary we're also losing the important things... And some people HAVE lost the important things: repentance, salvation, discipleship (the OTHER part of the great comission,) a rejection of sin... But for people trying to conserve the good things, they often inhibit positive growth, and inhibit a way to reach people... There needs to be a point where we can NOT embrace sin, but not condemn sinners (meaning not reject them and avoid them, instead to love them and introduce them to the heart changer instead of trying to change their hearts); NOT let our biblical standards slide, but NOT hold on to the death to traditional social standards; NOT dilute the message, but not bore the audience. I think that this, and similar flukes in Simpsons and King of the Hill and other shows, show that we are just starting to poke through. We've got a long way to go, though.

This episode was a great eye opener.

I caught the last part of it (it's the first night I've not had to be asleap by 8pm on a Sunday night).

I like how they handled things in the end, both between the fathers and what Hank showed Bobby about things going out of style.

I don't think Bobby was expressing out of his own life, but imitating those around him a bit... Christian music did this for the longest time at the start, people would do up the 80's thing (or whatever was popular at the time) and adapt their own style to that, rather than just being who they where and letting those who came from that "culture" do their thing. Kathy Tricolli (apologies for spelling) had that problem, record producers and what not kept trying to force her into a specific mold and style of music to the point where she considered signing on with secular record company (though I think her case was more the opposite, but still).

Personally I've always considered shows like the Simpsons (and at times KotH) as a measuring point of how dumb we as a overall Christian community look to the outside world.

As for the mixing of rock and Christianity... I think the terrible mix could have more to do with writers of the show and their lack of understanding of the subject... then again, some of the bands that play at those things can be pretty bad.

Hmm...while I think KOTH is hilarious somtimes...every time I see somthing about Christians on the show they are mocked and made to look like cultists....big shocker when the show is made by sterotypical media. I did not see lastnights episode....but then again...the last ep I saw was about there daughter going to church or somthing....made fun of the pastor everything basicly...on top of having zero time with work now..I also did not like the Anti-Christian vibe I got. But I am glad to see people found somthing positive out of it...and if you like the show great, thats cool...just my own 2 cents....as far as Christian rock....some bands give it a bad name and ruin it for everyone...unique Christian rock bands are awesome...rare...but awesome. Ones that are carbon copies of 1000 secular bands...are just sad wannabees. On forums I post on there now called "youth group crap" Which is a shame
