I was wondering if anyone here is considering purchasing DC Universe Online. I'm really excited about this game. I mean, come on, what comic book geek wouldn't want to play this? Teaming up with Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, et al? Making your own superhero or villain? AWESOME!:dance:

It sounds really cool but online? Eh. I don't like MMO's. But if you're into MMO's, it sounds like a really awesome game.

If they bring the lifetime membership offer to the PS3, then I may consider it... As it stands, 15 bucks a month is too much, particularly for a post-everquest Sony MMO.
I know this is weird coming from one of the biggest Sony Fanboys on the site, but SOE is not SCEI.

Over an hour long look at the character creation and a bit of gameplay. The character creation system seems to be fairly decent, nothing too special, but I think probably the best feature is the ability to use "templates" rather than creating a character from scratch. So you can go in and say "I want a dude like Superman," and the game will give you a guy with Superman type qualities.
But yes, thrill to the adventures of Vinny's hero B4tm4n, the rifle-wielding telepathic street-smart red-haired mummy with a top hat. It looks like basic MMO stuff. "Go collect 25 of this thing. Kill 15 of these things. Go to this place and protect 10 of these guys." Nothing particularly innovative. Kevin Conroy voices Batman though which is cool (despite what Ryan says, it IS Kevin Conroy).

So who would you folks team up with if you got this game? I'd pick:
Batman
Nightwing
Firestorm
Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner)
Wonder Woman
Static (they'd better have him in the game. It's not like his cartoon wasn't popular)

I could have just said "read the title" but when have I ever passed up the chance to post a funny picture? :p Especially since I couldn't tell if you were being serious or not. Like if there was a Star Trek thread and I was like "What episode does Darth Vader show up in?" as a joke, y'know? XD

I'm geeked over this game. Seriously, I would love to play this game. However, I don't know how "worth it" it would be if it's on a pc (and my laptops dedicated to school) and I am not buying the most expencive gaming system on the market for one game. Especially for a game that costs $15 a month. Such a bummer, but I can't in good consious get this game with it's required equiptment.
DC Universe Online still looks like a great game. The only thing that could make it better is if it were Marvel.

Microsoft was working on a Marvel MMO for the 360, in competition to Sony's license for DC, but I think it fell through.

Looks really interesting, but I am trying to cut back on entertainment costs because I want to finish paying off our mortgage ASAP.... and playing an MMO with subscription costs is going to set me back a fair bit...
