This is not a new game, but I just got it the other day.

I have only played a little (currently into day 4).

I find the game so far to be well polished, and the pace of the story really helps to keep my interest up.

Anyone else played this? Please share your thoughts.

I'm sorry, I don't think anyone on CAA has even heard of Shin Megami Tensei, much less played it.

It's a fantastic game.

It's sad that combat is probably the worst part of it.

Not that combat is bad, mind you. It's well done, just...

When you fight the exact same types of enemies in the exact same distributions on each floor in a dungeon, it gets mind-numbingly repetitive. When most dungeons are around 10 floors long, it starts to drag.

Also never been a fan of randomly generated dungeons. Or randomly generated treasure chests. But that's just me.

The story is excellent, the characters are fantastic, the music is great. Very good intro game for the SMT series in general as it's definitely easier than the other games. It of course does destroy your ability to fully enjoy Persona 3 if you play 4 first, but that's a small price to pay.

Nate, you forgot to mention the fact that when your main character dies that's it...even though you have complete control over your party...and they're your best friends...thanks guys...

Anyway, yeah, P4 is awesome and is one of my favorite games. And anyone with a PS2 should play it.

That makes sense from a storyline perspective since
Izanami is testing the people she gave powers to to find humanity's true desires. If the main character falls, it means his power wasn't strong enough, regardless of if he could be brought back by other characters.
But it's still annoying and really only exists because it's a tradition of most SMT games that main character dying = game over.

I've played about 40-50 hours of Persona 3 (the standard version; I wasn't able to get FES), and I really enjoy it, despite some annoyances (like having to talk to party members to check their statuses/equipment, which just gets annoying).

I know Persona 4 fixes some of these things and the game looks good, but I've already watched most of it on the Giant Bomb endurance run and I already know how most of the game's ending turns out, so... I don't know if I'll pick it up or not.

Also, can someone explain to me the logic of being able to have more than one girlfriend in Persona 4? I mean, you could only have one in Persona 3. I just... I just don't really get it. :-\

This. Josiah is just so smooth, they don't even know he's playing them all.

I also like how your relationship with the character grows when completing their social links.
