Hey guys, did you hear about the newest Nintendo DS remodel?

If not, let me introduce you to the DSi XL!

Image

"Nintendo DSi XL (known in Japan as DSiLL -> DSiII or DSi2) is a larger version of DSi equipped with a 4.2 inch screen in a bigger body shell with XL featuring more rounded corners than on the original DSi. Battery capacity on the DSi XL has been increased resulting in longer battery life without recharge.

DSi XL is available in 3 colors (Dark Brown - Wine Red - and Natural White color) with more colors possible available on a later date depending on the popularity of the console and demand. (We are looking forward to Piano Black and Silver).

DSi release dates are 2009, October 29 in Japan and the second quarter or 2010 for USA and Europe.

Three free DSiWare titles will come pre-installed on the DSi XL and of course you can download more DSiWAREZ from the DSi Store."

In case you're wondering just how much bigger it is, I've included some pictures that I hope will answer that question for you.

Incidentally, that is their targeted demographic with this model. XD

My main beef with the DS is how awkward it is to hold the controls, but I imagine I'm in the minority of people who just want a portable gaming system and don't use the touch screen much at all.

Perhaps this new, larger size will be more comfortable?

That might explain why most of the best-sellers have minimal touch screen controls. I kinda wish Nintendo would still sell those special thumb pad straps with the DSi/DSlite models. They work so well with games like New Super Mario Bros...

The Nintendo DS could be played at terminal velocity. I wonder how any of the Lite/DSi models could stand up to it?
What I'm saying is, I liked the originals. This makes no sense at all, huh?

Seriously, Nintendo? Come ON. The DS Lite was just fine the way it was, and then they made the stupid DSi, and now this thing? I guess I just fail to see the point.

Not much interested in a DSi myself, but they did add some interesting new functionality with it (beyond adding a stupid camera). Namely, the DSi ware. This model feels less like baseless cashmongering and more like improving on the primary complaints with the DSi (namely size and battery life). I feel more kindly towards this than I did it's little brother. I still prefer my DS lite though.

I've just heard news about their next model after that one! It makes use of these cool new small cylindrical things (I forget what they're called) to power it, the controls are made simple and easy to use, all the sound comes out of one speaker, and best of all it plays all of your old classic 8-bit favorites! Here's a picture:

Cool. Though, isn't being small kinda the point of handhelds?

You know, even though I prefer my DS Lite over the DSi, I'm gonna get some kind of a DSi for the DSiware games.

Pulling a Nintendo more like. They've always done this with their hand helds. First comes the device, then the colored versions. Then the smaller versions. Then the smaller versions with colors. Then the smaller colored versions with better features, then comes a new device, etc... They've done it ever since that brick that Htom posted.
