This footage is a year and a half old, but just made it onto the net YESTERDAY.

Holy... freaking... crap...
While the shader work is a bit subpar (that can change in over a year) you can't say that about anything else.

Three games of ridiculously expansive ruins. Just where does everyone in the Ico universe live I wonder.
Still, a boy and his dragon (thing) plot mechanic could have a lot of promise. I'll have to keep tabs on this one.

Whoooooaaaa. Whatever the flying crap that monster is, it's freaky yet cute, I'll give it that. And of course, moar ruins. And I saw arrows sticking out of that monster thing, so that's interesting.
BAAAAH, this looks awesome, but that fact that it's a PS3 exclusive kinda sucks.

HAHA! I read dragon, and it sounded so awesome.
Then I saw the thing.
It does seem interesting, although I hope that this game has more interaction with NPCs maybe.

Man, this team's work exists as one of the biggest producers of mainstream "art" in videogames. I'd love to play it. It's gonna be PS3 exclusive, isn't it? Man, I hope the PS4 is backwards compatible. It's getting pretty late in the generation for me to pick up a system now.

People are saying it's a Gryphon, since it's very obviously a cat that forms the base of its movements, and it has a beak and talons. It's a baby Gryphon, just... A lot bigger than it would normally be. So... A GIANT baby Gryphon.
As for NPC interaction, you may notice there are arrows sticking into him in one of the scenes... There are obviously human (or close to human) opponents in the game.

True,that was a nice observation.
It's seems like it's in Mexico sometime during the precolonial period. The Spanish soldier looked awesome. I don't think they used armor like that though. It could be a different world altogether. XP still cool.

The games they've done always had a mesoamerican feel to them, I felt.

So....... now we got a huge bird/rat creature? Kinda like the eyes on it.
Hope none of the control developers from Lair is on this one. XD

Awesome! I was wondering what the third game would entail. I was kinda hoping for a 'Colossus' sequel, but I'm also psyched about fresh ideas.
A kid with a giant bird/rat/cat griffin? That looks pretty cool.

This looks like it has a lot of promise, but I'm not feeling the design of the monster-thing. It looks to me like they started with a picture of someone's kitten, threw darts at a book of fantasy creatures for ideas, and then made it the size of a double-decker bus. The proportions don't really make sense for its size, especially the head. Exciting nonetheless, mind you.

It's a gryphon. AKA Lion + Eagle. Lion kitten = kitten body + head. Eagle = Beak and talons and wings. So just 2 things. Not so much a dartboard full of body parts. The tail is kind of rat-like, but aren't lion tails sort of... lacking in the fur department?

I can see that it's a gryphon, so I understand your point, but what I mean to say is that it looks a bit thrown together. In other words, the throwing-darts imagery is meant to imply a less thought-out process rather than a diverse pastiche of influences, but I can see how that would be unclear.

I noticed the new tail is covered in feathers, vs the old one that was bare... I'm not liking a feather covered tail... In any case, I guess the boy is actually cell shaded, which is hard to distinguish when NOTHING ELSE is cell shaded, but that would explain why it looks so plain compared to the detail on everything.

Well, it's been revealed that this game is called "The Last Guardian" , apparently.
Also, I don't know when this info came out but apparently SotC is a prequel to Ico and the wanderer from SotC is the ancestor of all the horned boys from Ico's time.
Right now I want to know where this falls in the timeline. At first I thought it was a prequel to SotC and that the beast or the boy was the "Last Guardian" of what would become the Forbidden Land (or maybe was at that time). I assumed this because of how extensive the temples seemed at that time, whereas in SotC they have largely fallen apart. However, judging by the boy's clothing in the TLG trailer and how similar it is to Ico's, I'd venture this game either takes place between SotC and Ico, or after Ico. If it's between, I'd say they're guarding something in connection to the power of Dormin which, after they eventually fail/die, will be taken by the Queen (or she at least tries to obtain whatever exactly it is, by utilizing the boys that have descended from the Wanderer).
I'm also wondering what the connection between Yorda and the Wanderer. I have to replay SotC because I lost my data and I want to watch the ending sequence again, and as I've started playing I realized how similar the wanderer and Yorda seem to look.
Any other thougths on all this?

That was my big question, also. Where will this fall in the Ico/Shadows timeline?
I actual hope they don't add human opponents. Being the only "person" in the game added a sense of vast loneliness, that and the humongous ruins.
I wonder... Will you be in control of the boy, or the creature? If it's the boy, then will you control the monster like Wander did Agro?
It seems the Ico series like the buddy system. Ico had Yorda, Wander had Agro, and now what's-his-name has the lab experiment gone wrong.
I wonder if the title has anything to do with the ending of Shadows. Since the Colossus were really more like Guardians... It's just rampant speculation, though.
Looks like I now have a reason to buy a PS3... >.>

Somehow, just speculation, but I bet this is another prequel. Especially if you consider SotC ruins to be all worn and broken down, not to mention they look a lot like the ruins in this.
But, I also have to consider the armored dude. The horsemen near the end of SotC seemed kind of mezo-american "tribal" I guess, they definitely didn't wear armor.
How odd.

Yeah, and as I pointed out (or meant to at least, I may have forgotten), the boy's clothing looks more similar to Ico's than to Wander's. While that might not be enough to be certain about, it's does seem to indicate something. If it wasn't for that and the armor you pointed out I'd be all for it being another prequel.
@SoS: Watching the boy climb onto the beast once made me think that some of the elements from SotC's fights are going to be mixed into this. I'm going to guess it will be a blend of Ico/SotC as far as controlling the beast goes (calling it to make it follow you and standing in certain ways to prompt it to perform certain actions) and during some parts have that SotC colossus fight feel as far as holding on goes.
And so far it doesn't look like human opponents will be much of a concern. That whole sequence was definitely cutscene material, and thusfar all other humans have pretty much been only in cutscenes in the previous games.
