In case you didn't hear, Nintendo said there was going to be some big seller coming out towards the end of the year. Alot of people speculated it might be a remake of Gold and Silver for the DS, and they were right. This game is supposed to be a remake with some additional features. You can read IGN's article about it here:

i never had gold or silver but i did have yellow and blue. i might go after this at some point. i still havent beat yellow or blue and iv had those for 10 years! yello is realy hard because the firdt jym is rock so your starter(that you have NO choive over) cant even affect rock. anyway i never saw a need to get silver or gold because there didnt look like there where that many more. but i might get it if they have alternate evolutions if transfered to platinum.

I'm tired of all these pokemon games coming out... D:

They should just remake Red and Blue for the DS or something. XD I'd buy that. Granted I guess I should just get the GBA versions.

Now if only Nintendo would just make a game where you can actually catch them all without having to go to events or anything.

Eh, I guess this was inevitable considering the fact that they already re-released Blue and Red...

I agree with Sparx. What they REALLY need though is an MMO. Pokemon lends itself perfectly to an MMO.

Nintendo will not be making a Pokemon MMO any time soon (possibly not at all)...why? Because they are stubborn and just recently gave into gamers crying for online play in their games. To enter the realm of MMO is too scary for them and not what gamers want (in their minds...).

Well, knowing that it took them about ten years just to get the franchise online, one should probably expect another seven years for an MMO release. :eyeroll::lol:

All the more time for them to make more pokemon to cram into it so it will be more impressive.

Which at that point, catching all 5,350 pokemon might seem impossible at first, but the GameShark shall resurrect at the appropriate time. :)

The question is, does the world REALLY need another MMO?

If it is a pokemon MMO, yes.

Maaaan, this is actually pretty shaweet. Crystal was my first version so having that gen revived is awesome and I am so looking forward to it. xD

And no. No, no, no to a Pokemon MMO. I don't even see how that would work and I certainly don't want to be bombed with "omgwtfbbq, i needs halp" and "wich pokeyman shuld i chooose?" when I want to enjoy some pocket monsters, nooooo. We already have Battle Revolution if you want to battle other foos.

I remember Gold was where my interest in Pokemon originally waned. A friend of mine had a Japanese copy, back before the English localization was out so it was sort of a big deal then, and he let me mess around with it for a couple minutes. Nothing about it really grabbed me, though some of the new species of Pokemon looked cool (some not). I just decided that the first generation was enough for me. Probably won't be picking this up either.

Though since it was such a hassle to get all of them back when there were only 151, I don't think I'd bother now that we have well over 500. Sometimes I think I might spring for something smaller scale though.

I didn't know there was a thread of this already, lol. I'm very excited for the remakes of both along with other games coming this year and next XD

Silver was my fav so I'm gonna have to get this.

There are rumors though of PokéMon traits that some will have (eg. a ruffled ear) that can be passed down through breeding.

This idea violates the marketing idea behind the games to begin with. I mean, "Gotta catch'em all" any way you can, right. Come on, mommy and daddy, let's go halfway across the country so I can get that new legendary Pokémon. That was the marketing GENIUS of Pokemon. The older players were just smart enough to get gamesharks... And sell Mew to neighborhood kids, like my friend did in the red and blue days.

I totally agree. Having to go to events or trading them can be a real pain in the foot. :shady:

With that out of the way I am glad that they are making a remake of these two games. It really brings back the memories. It will be cool to see the Johto Region with more color and possibly some 3-D elements like Diamond and Pearl.

I just wish it didn't look so much like D/P/P. I don't really the art style in those.
