Hey, not sure if you have read about this already, but I thought it was interesting:

They look like brother and sister....

And I think he hacked the PS 1 game or the SNES version... On the youtube video, he mentions that he can't wait till the DS version comes out... so I would assume he didn't hack it if it wasn't out yet :D

Well, she was right on one thing: he is a huge nerd for proposing via a hacked game (although I think he pulled it off in a classy way), but obviously he knew his target audience, because it worked. I hope that if I get the opportunity to propose, I have such ingenuity - however, you can bet I won't be hacking a game. XD I'm no programmer.

...you know, as much as I'd love to be proposed to...I don't think you're going to win me over with a video game.

I mean, I'm a huge gaming geek too, but, I am first and foremost a GIRL--and in my case, it means I've been thinking of/planning/dreaming of this day since I was 4.

I have the same issues with online/twitter/facebook/IM/World of Warcraft proposals. It's cute, I guess, but I would much rather have my beloved get down on his knees IN FRONT OF ME and give me a ring himself (instead of mailing it, lol). It just doesn't seem as real to me if he doesn't.

I realize insisting on the "in-the-same-place-ness" could seem a little hypocritical of me, given the duration of long-distance in my current relationship, but ... meh. I'm complicated.

Well, to be fair, this guy WAS on one knee with the ring when she read the proposal; however, I understand you are referring more to the proposal-via-Internet fad, and in this I am completely in agreement. For me personally, as much as girls may dream of a storybook scenario, I dream of just such a scenario. I'd much rather be the knight in shining armor than the nerd in black Halo shirt. But hey, everyone's different.

Just reading the story, it sounds like they go out(side) alot (as opposed to staying in a room playing video games all day, every day...), so that's encouraging (and it automatically disqualifies them as real nerds...at least in my book)...

Well, I think it's sweet.

And does it really matter *how* he does it? If I love my man enough, he can write a proposal down on a used cocktail napkin, for all I care.

Seems like a lot more effort went into this than your usual proposal, anyway.

Aww! You have to give it to the guy. Programming ain't that easy.
LOL,the video is awesome.
Hmm,I couldn't say how would I propose, I've been thinking about it for way too long. XP
It's one of those thing that you just want to be perfect. Still, every couple is different, plus I think she liked it. It shows that they knew each other pretty well.
LOL! Again...AWWWWW

Wow. Thats creative. All in all though, I would prefer a more romantic way to propose to my girl.

I think this was an awesome, thoughtful, creative way to propose. Getting down on one knee is pretty cliche. XD

My husband proposed to me with a box of paper clips. >_>

If memory serves, my dad used a box of Cracker Jack. He had carefully replaced the prize with the engagement ring, re-sealed the prize wrapper, and re-sealed the box. Needless to say, it worked - after all, I'm here, no?

I swear, in some alternate universe, there is a TV show equivalent to MacGyver, and my dad is the hero. There are more bad puns in that show than mortals could fathom.

Hmm... I'm not a girl, so perhaps my say isn't much here, but... Firstly, he WAS there while she was playing it. And he WAS on one knee in front of her, ring in hand. He heard her first say "you're such a nerd" and then say "Yes"

Secondly, this wasn't like a twitter / facebook / IM/ or world of warcraft proposal. This is something he spent a long time working on, put an enormous amount of thought into, and was something they both could relate to (though I have to say the language of the piece was a bit much... The "ruffians" bit in particular made me snort)

I think this was genius, myself.

I want to propose to my girlfriend like that.

But what I want more then that is a girlfriend that would still say "yes" if I proposed to her like that.

But what I want more than that is a girlfriend.

LOL, I had forgotten hearing about this! I only just now watched the video of the actual game footage, and I have to say, it's a pretty creative idea. XD Some of the wording was a little cheesy, but overall, it's obviously something he put a lot of effort into. XD And I mean, if you're gonna propose through a video game, at least he chose one of the best ones ever! XD
