Games you'd like to see remade

Gametrailers just did a top 10 remakes list. It got me thinking of video game franchises that should be revived. Here's what I'd like to see:
Lemmings--my favorite puzzle game. We really need more of those cute suicidal idiots.
King of the Monsters--this was a Godzilla-style Street Fighter clone from Neo Geo. You could throw buildings in it. I think if they made it a multiplayer game like Smash Bros, it would make an excellent party game.
NBA Jam--one of the best basketball games period
Streets of Rage--not a bad Final Fight clone, I thought.

Usually I'm not real picky about graphics, but I think I would honestly give Final Fantasy 7 another shot if they remade it with a different graphics engine. I can't stand the graphics in that game which is one of the reasons I never made it through the whole thing. @_@

I'd like to see Grim Fandango updated; they shouldn't add anything, they shouldn't take away, they shouldn't tamper, they should only render the backgrounds in higher resolution like they did a few years ago with Myst. Even as a big fan those backgrounds, which I considered "gorgeously rendered" a decade ago looks a bit too pixelated now. :)

Second on the Lemmings remake. You know how awesome that'd be in 2-1/2d? Think like New Super Mario Bros. XD

Quest 64. *Nods* It needs a revamp.

Let's see here......

Vandal Hearts - This game shaped large parts of my childhood, I want to see it remade in its 2,5D glory. Long game, same type of gameplay, a few new things, but most importantly a great storyline. I fear the later one mentioned might be near impossible by today's standards.

Jump Ultimate Stars - This needs to get ported into one of the stationary systems or the pc. So much fun, would not mind to see this remade in 3d with a new look, could be great, but probably would smell of fail unless you get excatly the right people to make it. Oh, and the region code thing/no translations can go down the toilet.

Moaaaaaaar 2d rpgs - Nothing to add here, except try to keep the cliche on a low, keep many dialouge options/events as a result on a high. Also, make some serius moral choices ect. I want it more open on that region.

Clock tower. *SNES version* I want the old school feel back on this one. It would be ok to make it into a 3d version, but I want to feel like the character is in a house where dangers can pop out from nowhere. On, and instead of the cheap scare factor, I want the true terror factor that was apparent at times in the original.

Fighting Mania - I want it mainstream and back, just because someone broke their hand and chain-sued alot of places should not have meant the end for this great arcade game. The second version of it even had a multiplayer option and I want to try that. Remake or whatever, just get it out. The original was so fun.

Homeworld 2 - The mod community has been fantastic on this one, but I want a third installment. Nuff said.

Hokuto no Ken: Shinpan no Sōsōsei Kengō Retsuden/Guilty Gear XX/Blue drop *I think* - As far as I know these are all on the same sort of 2d fighting engine, now this sort of moves close to the Jump ultimate stars concept, but the engine is by far the best 2d fighting engine I have ever seen. Throw in many series, be the new mugen for all I care, just get the engine developed and out there. So fast, so cool and just plain fun.

Medival Total war - Now I know a new version of this is going to come out. However since they are virtualy exploreing so many different time periods, I want a whole package going from the early stone ages - close to the modern ages or beyound. Not to mention the entire world map. Yeah, I know of empire earth and civilization, but it is just not the same.

Zelda - Ok, some people liked Twilight princess, I found it midly entiretaining. Although OOT is probably my best gameing experience of all time. Now the wii has had too many gimmicky movement in the majority of their games. The swordfight on this on the wii version being no different. I want something wastly improved on this front as well as a storyline where Ganondorf actualy is evil again. Evil like destroying villages, not like covering Hyrule in a curse that can be reversed. Make a heroic character that turns antagonistic as well, that would be cool.

I probably could go on, and on, and on with this. However that is all I am willing to write for now.

Chrono Trigger easily. I just started playing this again yesterday and I was thinking how awesome this would be if they remade it with better graphics. Don't change a single thing, just the graphics, and that would be nice. But its still an amazing game as is. But to see it updated would be nice.

A cel-shaded Comix Zone game would rock my face off. Also, Peasant's Quest.

Code Name Viper from the NES. A new Basewars from the NES also. A new Nightmare Creatures would be cool as well.

That would defiantly be awesome. Along with the new high resolution backgrounds, they should add new models, have them use the same exact designs, but more detail / polygons. Perhaps improved animation for the models as well?

I think Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (the MSX ones, not the NES ones) needs to get remade and released in one package. Maybe remake Ghost Babel and throw that in there as well while they're at it? So many Metal Gear Solid fans haven't played the original Metal Gears. Have the gameplay pretty much the same but improved to fit today's standards. 3D graphics obviously. Bring in David Hayter and the others for voice work and have Metal Gear Solid like cutscenes (MINUS THE LENGTH). This game would be better off on xBox Live! Arcade / PSN / WiiWare / Steam than retail.

A CastleVania III animated feature is being worked on. How cool would it be if they remade CastleVania III and the animators that are working on the animation did the graphics for the remake (after checking out Wario Land: Shake It!, I have realized how awesome a 2D game with graphics done with traditional animation is). Have the cutscenes done by the same animators too, and the voice actors featured in the animation in the game too.

I'd like to see Sonic Chronicles for the DS remade so that it isn't a pile of crap.

That is being remade for the DS, haha.

On topic for the thread.

I think all the GI Joe games should be remade for the DS or on all the current consoles. After the new GI Joe game by EA of course.

All the Megaman games for the 360, Wii and PS3.

Resident Evil 2 for the 360 and other consoles,
Maybe re-release RE 4 for the 360 and PS3 with the graphics of the upcoming fifth RE game RE 5.

Definitely Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9.

All I can think of atm.

No, it's being ported.

This would be welcome. Or just Square remembering that they have done other games that were not Final Fantasy VII.

Oh I completely agree. NBA Jam used to be one of my favorite games back in the day.

And I also fully agree on some form of bringing FFIX back. In my opinion that was easily one of the best FFs ever.

A Chrono Trigger remake is not necessary. The graphics are fantastic as is.

That reminds me, the DS port comes out tomorrow. Excellent.

I'd like a remake of every decent 3D game from the PS one / N64 era. I'm not normally that picky about graphics, but the resolution that most of these games displayed in is horrible.

Actually, I'd like to see remakes of a whole lot of 2D games as well, but not in 3D. I'd simply like to see everything redrawn to take advantage of the larger resolutions that are offered by today's consoles. It's not necessary, but it would be beautiful.

Honestly, I think Chrono Trigger is great as is as well. Just I remember when some third party group was putting together a 3D version of Chrono Trigger I got really excited but they got shut down by Squaresoft (understandably). Its been a while so the graphics they had would be out dated today but it did look like it was going to be very awesome back then.

I would actually like to see SNES-era JRPGs, like Chrono Trigger or FFVI remade with a better translation that's free of the memory constraints of the cart, improved sound and an actual recorded soundtrack (as opposed to sequenced MIDI), and graphics in the same vein as Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which I think has fantastic 2D art and is an excellent example of what remakes should be trying to do.

I also wouldn't mind doing this for PC RPGs like Baldur's Gate either.

True, it does Have enhanced sprites and a new dungeon and other extras in the Chrono Trigger DS port.

And yeah Square Enix really needs to remake FF 8, 9 and even 7, and some other titles.

Let's see...

DK64- Great game, make it with better graphics and it would be amazing.
I second Chrono Trigger, FFVII.
And OoT! That game is my favorite game of all time. If they remade it with better graphics...oh man. That'd rock so hard.

I would love to see a remake of Goemon's Great Adventure and the Megaman Legends games(including Misadventures of Tron Bonne).

If there were ever plans to remake Chrono Trigger we'd undoubtedly hear nothing but uptight, snobbish "purists" whining about how improved graphics and sound and whatnot would ruin their precious piece of old-school RPG perfection. And they'd be glad no one could see them typing their complaints because they're really wetting themselves with excitemenet over the idea.

/snarky mode off

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of Silent Hill as long as no new content was added to the game itself. Reworked graphics and a friendlier control scheme would be nice. I'm not sure about voices though. An all-new voice cast would be hard to get used to, but I can't deny that smoother dialogue would be nice considering how choppy it is in the original.

"Have you seen . . . . . a little girl? . . . . . Short, black hair . . . . . just turned seven last month . . . . . Her name's Cheryl."
