And they just released the original Beyond Good and Evil for Steam.

That is awesome.

Oh my goodness yes. I loved the first game. The realistic art stye is an interesting departure. I'll have to wait for more media to be released before I develop a real opinion on it, though.

It was re-released on Steam? Time to buy it a second time, just to play it on PC.

What?

It is time for you all to tell me why I should buy this game.

Because the game is fun, suspenseful, extremely easy on the eyes, has an interesting setting, excellent voice acting, great characters, a good sense of humor, and a great plot?

Oh, and you team up with a talking pig, which is a first in the gaming industry, as far as I've seen.

Tears are welling up in my eyes. Also I'm amazed they put all that together considering just weeks ago it was all sketchboard while they waited for Ubisoft to determine if they could make the game.

Nah. Most of the games actually cut him out.

Like the portal thread, I don't know that there is anything we can say to you to make you buy this game. The experiences of most of the people in this thread who loved the game came without hype or without much effect from hype. If it is possible, pick up the game (It was bargain basement almost from day 1, seriously) and try to play it without all the hype playing in your head.

I don't think so. I'm certain that they will include a "hard" mode.

As a side note, I didn't realize that BG&E was particularly difficult. Perhaps that was washed out of my memory over the years, though.

I had no trouble with it...seemed like standard platformer difficulty to me. I actually had a harder time with the Ratchet & Clank games than I did with BG&E. Which...makes me worry that maybe they're focusing on the wrong problems...

Well, the biggest problems I had with the game is summed up in a single word.

Pey'j.

If they fix his incessant jibber jabber, I'll love the sequel.

Hey, I liked Pey'j!

But then, I have a very, very high tolerance for characters that are normally considered annoying. I never even hated the Soda Poppers.

I'll have to replay the original now, because I'm actually wracking my brain trying to think of something that really needed to be fixed, and nothing's coming up..

I bought the game recently and have been slowly working through it...the only difficulty I've really had has been with my own tendency to run out into the open, gun's a blazing (or in this case staffs a blazing) when a stealthy approach is more suitable. I'm really not surprised...I have the same problem when I play Splinter Cell...still I'm looking forward to the sequel even though I haven't finished the first game yet.

I have the original, and recently played it. As far as "easier," though, I'm not sure how much easier you can make a game. I would like for any stealth system to be implemented better, though. For the most part it was fine, but a couple times weird stuff happened. And the instant-death lazerbots bugged me. I get they wanted to emphasize stealth, but if I want to hack & slash my way through the guards then by golly I should be allowed to!

(Oh hey, I wanted to play it when it first came out. Then when I finally got money it disappeared.)

(To the easier-ness I say feh. Though I guess I'd be fine with just a "hard" mode.)

I did not realize that this had been announced until I was speaking with Link Antilles this weekend. We got so excited I accidentally dropped my phone and hung up on poor Link.

I'm really looking forward to this game. From the preview trailer it seems that they've kept the personality and feel of the last game and that's the main thing I loved from the last one.

As for making it more accessible they can only really do that for the stealth, which I absolutely loved, even with the amount of difficulty that peppered the later stealth segments. Insta-kill lasers are nothing. Multiple mobile guards are the thing to watch out for.

To those of you who have not played the first and are curious about the amount of excitement expressed here I have to agree with Etoh. If you like the Action/Adventure/Platforming/Stealth genre then just play the game. It's really cheap last time I checked. Nothing I can say can sum up what I felt while playing that game. That would require several hours formulating a fitting review and honestly I just don't have the time.

I haven't finished BG&E yet, I need to get back to it. It's really one of the most underappreciated games ever released on the PS2. Gameplay-wise it's nothing special, pretty simple really. But the characters and story are what really make it great.

I enjoyed the first one, albeit not as much as the rest of you apparantly...
But, this is interesting, so I'll see how it goes.
