Original FFVII?

Hey, all, quick question. I was recently told that in the original Japanese release of Final Fantasy VII, there was an optional quest you could undertake to aquire the Mega Pheonix Down, which you could then use to bring Aeris back to life. When the game was brought to America, they got rid of that quest and put in Emerald and Ruby Weapon in it's place. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, where I can get the original version of the game??

Aeris cannot come back in any version of the game without a gameshark. Sorry. The only difference between the US and JP versions of the game is the ruby and emerald weapons, and later the "international version" of the JP version put those things back and added a backstory for Zack that we didn't get in the US until it was told in Last Order and eventually at the end of Crisis Core.

lol Internet rumors. Yeah, Bob has it right. There was never any way to bring Aeris back. I'm impressed that that question still gets asked almost 11 years after the game came out. That is the mark of a lasting story......and internet rumors.

I also heard a rumor that there was a quest in Ocarina of Time to get the whole triforce. Screenshots and everything, no foolin'. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. We intertubefolks can be kind of full of it.

No. There is not.
Not ever.
Vincient was an entirely optional character, but they still included him in Advent Children. But Aeries was still dead. That should tell you something.
And no, they would not have edited Advent Children in America. That would be ridiculously expensive.

Rumors have circulated that Aerith can be resurrected in Final Fantasy VII or that the possibility was removed in development. "The world was expecting us to bring her back to life, as this is the classic convention". A lengthy petition asking for Aerith's revival by Japanese players was sent to scenario writer Yoshinori Kitase. However, Kitase states that "there are many meanings in Aerith's death and that could never happen."
So yeah, it was decided from the very start that she would not be able to be resurrected in any way.

I heard a rumor that there's some secret code that allows a subquest wherein Cloud can get Aeris to invite him into her house for coffee and . . . oh, wait. Nevermind.

I remember a gaming "cheat site" called Jesses world or something like that with cheats like that listed. Anyone could submit game cheats. I don't think any of them were real. But some of them sure were funny.

No, you can totally get it. You earn it by casting Knights of the Round on a Magic Pot a total of 100 times.

It gets a lot easier after you've earned the Super Materia you get by flying around the world 777 times, fighting Emerald Weapon for 200 rounds without attacking, and then watching paint dry for a thousand hours.

Also, the scene where you spend the night with Tifa? You have to use ingame choices to make it so you spend the night with Barrett. Then you're set.
