Terrible crossovers...MK vs. DC

Yes, this is for real. Officially.
http://www.worldscollide.com/
There is a trailer on the site too.
According to an interview with Ed Boon, the game will have NO fatalities. Apparently DC is against having their characters torn limb from limb or have their heads uppercutted off. And it's not like a mortal could kill Superman anyway.
But I mean, the entire Mortal Kombat franchise is DEFINED by blood and fatalities. It has nothing else going for it. So what is the point of this game? Just pointless fanservice? Trying to emulate Marvel vs. Capcom? I just don't get the point, especially since the ONLY thing Mortal Kombat has going for it, isn't even in this game.

Why didn't they just go ahead and make a DC comics fighting game without the MK characters? People like me have been wanting a DC Comics fighting game for AGES! Why does Marvel get all the games?

What you mean the in depth MK fighting system is not enough to make you play? Wait sorry its not enough for anyone at the momment. XD anyways yeah that game looks terrible IMO

Now I just want to see Batman do a fatality....
OHWAIT.
They just destroyed the point of Mortal Kombat with the exclusion of fatalites.
Well, looks like I'll have to download MUGEN again if I ever want something like this. *pouts*

Sounds like an epic failure to me. I mean, even Marvel vs Capcom wasn't THAT good of a game. (At least, the PSX version wasn't. Can't speak for the arcade version.)

I agree that MK vs. DC wouldn't make sense. Danger Will Robinson - epic fail approaching!
Marvel vs. DC, however . . . it would never happen, but still. That would make a lot of sense, except that the fanboys would whine if their favorite character wasn't as OMGpowerful as they think he/she ought to be.
Of course, the creation of a Marvel vs. DC game would be pointless, as the struggle for victory would just be a race to see whomever can select Batman first.

Fixed (x2). XD
Not that I'm implying Wolverine is cooler. He isn't. Just that as far as rabid fanboys go, the Wolverine ones FAR outnumber the Batman ones.

Wouldn't Superman have to be, like, undefeatable? I mean, who can really win in a fight against Superman?

Thats a good point right there....even though well Doomsday did defeat him.

He can be killed with Kryptonite.
Batman in particular, always keeps a piece of Kryptonite on him in a special pocket "just in case".

The Playstation was never really good at handling 2D Fighers, and once they became as complex as X-Men Vs. Street Fighter it was quite ill-prepared to handle it. Likewise, the Playstation port of Marvel Vs. Capcom was just plain miserable because the hardware wasn't able to handle it. The arcade and Dreamcast version, however, is as fun as a barrel of monkeys.
Naturally, it must have seemed at first like X-Men Vs. Street Fighter was a pretty poor idea too. How on earth would the Street Fighter characters ever hold up against superheroes? In practice, however, the final product worked out quite well. I have a feeling that Ed Boon knows what he's doing with this game too.

Doomsday. :p

Ed Boon said there's no Fatalities.
This already proves he doesn't know what he's doing with this game.

Between that ^ and his hilariously stoic attitude, Batman rocks. I'd like to see Raiden against Superman; isn't he immortal?

DC vs. Mortal Kombat?
Wow,I never saw that one coming.
If they think the can beat Capcom Vs. Marvel series, I think not.
I've played Capcom Vs. Marvel 3 at the arcade and I it is really good,I not sure about the PS2 version (though I did or do want to get it someday).
DC vs. Capcom would have be better in my opinon.
I don't think Mortal Kombat is that popular either.
As for no fatalities, I don't mind that they took that out.
Anyway, maybe it'll be good maybe it wont, I guess we'll just have to wait.

Whose idea was this? Are both franchises that hard up for cash?
I didn't like the trailer either. The idea of Batman and Subzero against one another does sound like a good marketing gimmick initially, but I can't imagine how the battle dynamics would work effectively in practice.

How many times has Batman dealt with Ra's Al Ghoul by now. Like, fifty-hundred? Let's say fifty-hundred.

You say it as if being able to play Adam West in a fighting game would be a
bad thing.
Tell me this wouldn't be an awesome, overtly-complicated, possibly secret move.

well super man is also weak to magical or mystical attacks according to
Wikipedia, and alot of the characters from mortal combat do stuff like that.
here's the paragraph from wikipedia to back it up. Just read the last sentence.
"'Superman is most vulnerable to Kryptonite, mineral debris from Krypton transformed into radioactive material by the forces that destroyed the planet. Exposure to Kryptonite radiation nullifies Superman's powers and immobilizes him with pain; prolonged exposure will eventually kill him. The only mineral on Earth that can protect him from Kryptonite is lead, which blocks the radiation. Lead is also the only known substance that Superman cannot see through with his x-ray vision. Kryptonite was first introduced to the public in 1943 as a plot device to allow the radio serial voice actor, Bud Collyer, to take some time off.[59] Green Kryptonite is the most commonly seen form but writers introduced other forms over the years, such as red, gold, blue and black, each with its own effect.[82] Superman has also been regularly portrayed as being vulnerable to attacks of a magical or mystical nature."
Nate (post: 1219277) wrote: I think the answer will be simpler. Remember Superman gets his powers from our yellow sun. The game will probably involve the DC characters getting zapped to Outworld or some other dimension, no yellow sun, thus Superman is greatly weakened. That's my theory anyway.
Ed Boon said there's no Fatalities.
This already proves he doesn't know what he's doing with this game.
actually in gamespot they had a interview with one of the guys working on the game and they stated the reason why everything is not unfairly unbalanced is because of a story mechanic something happens in the story that ends up sort of equalizing all of the characters so that they have a greater chance of fighting ones like superman or raiden (i.e. elivating the strengths of the weaker characters). I know it sounds wack but he explains it better.

He's in Batman
skivvies. I don't care how great his body is; I still don't want to see him in the equivalent of wrestler's garb.
EDIT: that, or he's in a flesh-colored outfit, which concerns.

Why Mortal Kombat? Because all the good fighting games are already paired up with someone else.
Of course there's no fatalities. DC Heroes don't kill. They don't tend to get killed, either. It ruins the marketing.
