Do you love killing zombies? If so, why?

I have realised that I get excited whenever I play any game that has some element of being able to kill zombies (or other types of undead).

For example, when I play Guild Wars, I like using Smite spells on undead enemies.

I like playing the Resident Evil series of games, not because I like puzzle solving or care too much about the story, but because I get to shoot zombies (in some of them anyway).

The same goes for Baldur's Gate. I would make a Lawful Good character just so I could be a Paladin and smite the undead.

What is it with this disposition to killing zombies and other forms of the undead?

I don't really know. Maybe it's because they usually move slower than me, giving me a sense of tactical superiority (could be because I usually suck at games and so need to make myself feel good by playing zombie-killing games). Maybe it's because I like the idea of standing on the side of what's just, and good, and right.

Maybe it's both.

Now if I can only get my hands on a game that allows myself and a friend to kill zombies in co-op mode... well, I do have "Hunter: the Reckoning Wayward" on my PS2.

So, does anyone else like killing zombies? :)

I'm going to go with the "suck at games and need to make myself feel good" response, even if I don't play zombie-slaying games.

Zombies are alright, but I prefer to kill dinosaurs in Dino Crisis or Monster Hunter.

Killing zombies is a good humans duty. Put them out of there misery, and make things safe for everyone. Doing it with a Boomstick, is just style.

i wouldn't classify it as KILLING zombies, since zombies are, technically, already dead.

No, I don't like killing zombies, but playing games as a Navy Seal and going after the bad guys is fun.

Plus, I'm also a member of the Kim Manning zombies fan club! :thumb:

Zombies are unnatural, undead, and unfriendly, so I am more than happy to make them unexist. I believe that, if you were to spot a zombie on the street, it is your duty as a human being to destroy it in any way you can.

So, enjoying playing Zombie games is only a natural, human instinct - and good practice, too for the day when they rise from the graves.

I learned a lot of my tactics from "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" for the Super Nintendo. Great fun and it was a two-player game. Destroying the undead is always better with a friend.

Quoted for awesomeness. I kill zombies because knowing it can still hobble after you without a leg is always interesting not to mention as stated its our civil human duty

I kill zombies because I often stop and think "WWBCD?" and the answer is usually "Kill zombies."

I prefer killing physical manifestations of deep-seated issues and dark secrets buried in a damaged human psyche. Why? Because it's more meaningful. And because they don't respawn.

The only Zombie game I'm really into is Dead Rising. I can't wait for Dead Rising 2, so I can get it on PS3... Curse Capcom for porting Lost Planet instead of Dead Rising.

I'm going to sympathize with Father Grigory on this one: to put them out of their misery. The things were dead already, or were supposed to be dead, at least. Now that there's REALLY no hope for them, let's send 'em back to where they came from\were supposed to go.

And hey, if I have a little fun while doing it, that's just extra bonus for me. :brow:

The only games I have played with zombies in them are Oblivion, Morrowind, Dungeon Siege, and the Halo games. I either kill them because they annoy me and/or I'm putting them out of they're misery. (like everyone else said)

The enemies in Half-Life do not count as zombies. =p

They are actually mutated human beings that were infected by the parasitic "Head Crabs". The human is just a host body for the headcrab.

A zombie a reanimated corpse that is brought back to "life" due to a virus known as Solanum. When that happens, the zombie does not need any other organ in their body except for their brain, which controls all function. All other organs cease to function and are not required for a zombie to live.
