Mario Galaxy release date? 0_o

Ok, now I'm REALLY confused...
First, IGN says it'll be out tomorrow on the 12th, but I've seen IGN (although highly reliable) to be wrong at times. At my work, sometimes we're off too on game release dates, depending if they were delayed or not. But, our flyer still says the 13th. Now, I was in Walmart today, which is an American company (mine's Canadian so yeah it can sometimes make a difference with dates) and it said the 14th!
Umm... can anyone clarify this? I've thought it to be the 13th for a while, but now I'm not sure and want to pick it up on release date before it flies off of shelves which I know it will. And with the Canadian dollar on the rise, stuff like games have gone down in price, so also an opportune time to pick it, and other games up, just in case that trend changes...

Games come out on Tuesdays, so I'd say it's RELEASED on the 13th, but will be in stores on the 14th.

Not all games come out on Tuesdays I've found. Although it is the release date for CDs/movies, I think Guitar Hero 3 was out on a Sunday or something like that.
Hmm hopefully at work we'll have them in already to see what the boxes' release dates will be. I mean, I know some games vary but for a HUGE game like this, the release date should be its' sell date too.

Our website has a release date of 11/12/07, yet we got a lot of calls stating that GameStop stores were not getting the game until the 13th. We are as confused you are Tenshi. And I work for GS. Though Monday will be "Observed Veteran's Day", so all shipping agencies may not be shipping on Monday hence the Tuesday delay.

Ah that's right, we have our Rememberance Day stat. holiday tomorrow. Hmmm interesting fact that you have heard of something similar. My best guess is that since it is a stat. tomorrow, probably will be Tuesday.

Ok this is weird... At work, it's still showing up as 'on order' rather than 'in transit' and although my store is bad for getting things in on time, for a HUGE game like that we usually get them in a few days before :/ I just phoned into Walmart now too, knowing they pretty much always get stuff in on time. They said 'they should be out today, but we haven't received them in yet'.
Solid, have you heard something similar? I'm just wondering if there's a delay on this now... Then again we HAVE had stormy weather in the region so that could contribute to it all too. Still, you'd think they'd at least be in transit already :/

My friends are playing it right now as of this moment.
It's interesting, but I don't think it's worth 50 dollars.

I guess it is just my area. Well, it WAS given a very high 9.7o I still think it's worth a shot at buying.

Interesting.
Any particular reasons...or are you not a fan of those kind of platformers?
I've rarely heard any actual criticism of SM64.

Mostly camera angles. The bad camera angles caused me to poorly execute jumps and stuff.
It got rather frustrating. That and it was just... not really all that fun, I guess. I dunno.
I never really found Mario games to me "zomg amazing", though. Fun, but they don't really stand out for me. They really don't have that much more to offer.

SM64 was virtually flawless. Also keep in mind that it was basically the first truly 3D game ever, and the camera was still better than most cameras in games today. But all that aside, you're entitled to your opinion and you don't have to like it, heh. :p
Anyway.. Yeah, SMG came out on the 12th, at least at my Walmart. I picked it up and so far it's absolutely worth the money. It's like SM64 but better in almost every way imaginable. Some of the gravity effects are simply astounding, and the graphis are actually quite fantastic, even though it's a cartoony Mario game. The water effects are arguably better than what I've seen on Xbox 360. Also, just the sheer amount of attention that went into all the little details and extras of the game... I'd say it's quite a masterpiece.

I have played a demo of SMG. All I can say that it is simply amazing!

I bought it yesterday. It's absolutely fantastic.
I have a question though. And this may be completely unrelated to the game, but I'm curious. When I put the game disc in it said that I needed to update the system. Okay, fine. I installed the update. The problem is, today I tried to play a bit of SMB3 on the VC. I played it the day before I installed the update and it worked fine. But today I tried to play it and well, the 2 button on the Wii remote, isn't working. I was unable to enter any worlds. I booted up my other NES game (Adventures of Lolo) and again, the 2 button wasn't functioning.
I tried reconnecting the remote, and succeeded. Obviously the 2 button IS functional, but for some reason it isn't working on my NES VC games. It may be completely unrelated to the update, and it may not be, but I'm suspicious. Anyone else have this problem? I'd really hate to think Nintendo did this to purposely force people to buy the Classic Controller attachment, but it IS Nintendo we're talking about. >.>

I bought the classic remote, only because when I tried to play Donkey Kong Country with my Game Cube remote, the buttons has backwards placement :/ Couldn't jump and throw a barrel with that set up, so picked one up. Weird thing with the update though, haven't got the update yet myself.
So I picked up Galaxy at work today (I hate our guns SO much and their lies >_> Says it was on order a day ago and had them in yesterday apparently :/) and of course, I forgot to bring the bag home with me :/ Tomorrow for sure... gotta check it out!

Okay, I just got back, and I'm REALLY upset.
I tried using the Classic Controller. It doesn't work either. So I booted up Link to the Past. Again, the A button is functional (I can use it to choose stuff on the "Home" menu) but it does not do anything in the game. If Nintendo screwed over their customers with this crap update I am going to be REALLY upset. Basically all the Virtual Console games I spent my freaking money on are UNPLAYABLE.

o_o Is this true? I haven't tried playing any VC games since the update. As soon as I get back from class I will.
... if I can't finish Sin and Punishment I'm going to be a very cranky boy.

My VC games are working just fine again. Weird...
ANYWAY. I beat Super Mario Galaxy tonight. The ending...what the crap? That was the lamest, most confusing ending ever. I never thought a Mario game would need an ending analysis. Geez.
However. The game isn't judged by its ending, it's a freaking Mario game, and the story isn't important, it's all about the gameplay. I've played through most of the galaxies already, and man. The level design in this game is absolutely fantastic. Top notch.
A couple of random thoughts.
1. So much stolen from Banjo-Kazooie. XD This game has a feature where the music in a level changes to a xylophone-y kind of version of the tune whenever you go underwater...which Banjo did first. This game also, much like Banjo 2, has a "Fire AND Ice in the same level" deal. It's admittedly cool, but Banjo did it better.
2. Doing wall climbing with the bee suit where you have to jump off and fly back to the wall to grab another honeycomb is well...way harder than it should be. You don't do it often enough for it to be a big deal, but it sucks when you do. Also. Spring Mario is pretty dang hard to control. XD
3. The music is awesome. The Space Junk galaxy music is perfect, and I love the remixes of the older tunes, especially the SMB3 one.
4. The Toy Time Galaxy is pretty much the best level EVER. I have one complaint on a level. The "Gold Leaf Galaxy" is a freaking palette swapped mirror image version of the Honeycomb Kingdom galaxy. Come on, Nintendo, you're better than that. :\
Anyway this game is great and if you haven't played it yet you fail at life.

I'm going to marry the game.
Because I adored Le Petit Prince, this game, has been my dream come true.
NOW IF ONLY I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS FOR IT! ACK!
Also, look at this:
It beat Ocarina of Time, on Gamerankings. It took almost 10 years, but a game has finally beaten it.

Is that the 60 star ending, or did you already get all 120 stars? Supposedly there's something better when you get all 120. I'd be very impressed if you had them all already. XD I'm at like.... 65 now.
Oh yeah and about the VC games. I didn't have any problems, though it seems that my "save data" for super mario bros 3 was wiped. Hmm..

Yeah, it was only the 60 star ending. XD The 120 star ending is hopefully better, because the regular ending was all "Uh...what the crap just happened?"

1. The graphics are good.
2. The music is awesome.
3. The level design is fantastic.
4. The controls are practically flawless.
5. It's an absolute blast to play.

Yeah I can agree with you on those points. But I mean... those aren't things that really stick out. To me, they just seem basic things that were tuned to perfection. Other than that, it doesn't seem to offer anything new or special.
Maybe I just don't like platformers.

Could be. I could very well say, "I'll never really get why Half-Life 2 was so universally acclaimed," because I don't like FPS games.

Yeah probably, course you'd have to play it first. XD
Though I did like Cave Story a lot. That was an awesome platformer. Either way, I'll keep on trying SMG.

I did play HL2 and I can say exactly the same thing. I thought the game was very well made and was fun, with good weapons, level design and all that jazz, but nothing about it stood out to me from any other FPS. So I guess it's all about opinion. If SMG isn't your thing then that's cool. =P

I think it's harder to compare the two in these terms. Half-Life (The entire series) was about new game mechanics and story, a lot which the player has to dig through themselves without having it spoon-fed. (Which is why I tend to believe it's a much more intelligent game) A person who follows the story and characters will get a lot more out of it than someone who just sits down and plays it without much prior knowledge and experience.
But I digress. Anyway, I'll play some SMG at my friend's house later.
