If you want to count Capcom vs. SNK and Capcom vs. Marvel, there's four more games.

No specifics on the actual game (console, graphics, anything) have been released. That was just a pretty sweet trailer and announcement. I believe we will not see anything about it until late 2008 at the earliest.

Being the resident one-on-one fighting game fanatic, I should be going crazy over this announcement... and I am.

My demands to Capcom are these:

1. It better be a 2D fighter coupled with a deep combo and super-move system.
2. Sweet high-res 2D art (1080p native support is mandatory).
3. Fluid animation (take SFIII: Third Strike as a starting point).
4. Chun-Li must be in it, and if they were smart, they will include the other female fighters and update their move roster to reflect the passage of time.

...

5. Actually, the passage of time idea is a pretty sweet idea in general. It would be interesting to see Sakura and Karin a few years older and see the maturation of their fighting styles.

Make it happen, Capcom.

If they STILL refuse to upgrade the resolution then Capcom needs to be shot. I also agree that they'd do well to bring back the more famous cast (primarily the original SFII fighters) members instead of creating *yet more* people simply to fill a roster.

They have plenty of characters from the three main SF games that matter:

Super Street Fighter II
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

That is more than enough.

Maybe it should be a Wii game.

*stares at the list of Street Fighter games*

Goodness, all those games stacked together would probably weight two tons.

And I thought Final Fantasy VII was overdone...

I hope more details are released soon, this one is leaving me curious. I grew up playing Street Fighter, so I have always followed the games... after playing the last one, I kinda started to get tired of 2D though. I mean, unless they make some good changes, then I would be okay with 2D, but these games are not big upgrades from each other. I'm hoping this will be. I'm enjoying Guilty Gear on the Wii until then... they upped the difficulty quite a bit on that game.

All I'm saying is it's about time.

Also, blasphemy. Street Fighter is a classic game series (that's not to say Final Fantasy isn't). They would typically tweak it and make the fighting system deeper between incarnations. The core is the same, but a LOT has changed since that first SF game. Maybe not enough to justify the number of incarnations there are, but I would say that considering there are only three main Street Fighter games (four if you count IV which is in development), it's not nearly as ridiculous as them overdoing FF7.

Yeah, I mean the list IS sort of deceiving. To the casual gamer or the modest SF fan, there's really only a few games you need to get because

a) many of the variants are mostly the same
b) usually the last in a series (Zero 3, Third Strike) is the only one you *need* out of series.

If you look at it that way, you can get a killer SF collection with only about...eh...five or six games?

While I'm sure it will grow on me, my initial reaction to the new graphical style is that it is ugly.

Oh well. I suppose there is always SFII: HDR.
