Paper Mario (all three titles) Discussion Thread

Hey everyone! This is a thread to discuss ALL of the Paper Mario games, your likes, your dislikes (but keep these to a minimum and NO DEBATES, PLEASE), your wishes for the next games to come (oh please let there be more!!), and your favorite moments overall.
Personally, I've seen the stories for the second and third games, but not all of the first game, which my brother is trying to plow through now (but maybe not at this moment). I love how the storylines are really creative, and how most everything looks so cute in paper animation, like the buzzy beetles for example. ^.^
But what I really think would be cool is if they turned each Paper Mario game into a novelized format that you could just read like any fantasy novel. THAT would be sooooo awesome. I'm hoping that I'm not the one who's going to write them, but still, even if that were the case, I'd love to see them in book format.

The Paper Mario series, in some ways, I enjoy more then the main Mario games.
I haven't played the original for the N64 yet, but I plan to download the VC game soon. Nor have I played Super Paper Mario on the Wii yet. I have however played and beaten Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door one hundred billion times.
My favorite partners to use were Goombella and Vivian. And I have to say this, the writing in the game was SUPERB. I don't know how many memorable lines I could write down. From the lines poking fun at cliches in Mario games and video games in general to Bowser's cut scenes. I would have loved to have worked on the translation team if I could have.

Three? Is that including the one that's more of a platforming hybrid? In any case, I've played the two main games and not the third.
I think this is a good series. Having low HP levels allows for defense to be a significant statistic and also allows their method of increasing/decreasing damage by involvement to play a significant role. But more than any benefits of the design, the games are simply great fun to play.

I've played and completed Paper Mario 2. Never played the first or SPM. But, yeah, the game was a lot of fun and I give it my solid recommendation.

Alec-kun, you should DEFINITELY look into getting the VC version; it's lookin' good so far. And the little star Twink is absolutely adorable. ^.^
Besides the writing for the games, I also like PM and PMTTYD's blending of flat characters with 3-dimensional graphics. While they have worked in the innovative "dimension-flipping" power for SPM--don't get me wrong...it's still pretty cool--I just seem to like the graphics from PMTTYD the best.

Awww, man. I really want to play the first few titles. I played and loved Super Paper Mario, but more for the style and diologue than for the actual gameplay... I need to get the original on VC and pick up a copy of The Thousand Year Door. My favorite thing about the games is the hilarious diologue.

Oh man these games are awesome. I haven't played SPM, but I did play both the first two games. And they are seriously fun. Im not sure what it is, but the Paper Mario games seem to me a little bit better than the regular ones. It might be the storys, the gameplay, or maybe its the fact that they decided to put 2D characters in a still 2D but somewhat of a 3D world. Paper Mario shall live for ever in the history of Nintendo to be sure! I can't wait to get a Wii and SPM!
@ Nate- Good whacka reference! Remember everyone if you whack the whacka you receive a whacka bump, which recovers 25HP and 25FP. He first appeared on the Mt. something (I can't remember) from the first game and then again on the pirate island in the second game.
@ UC- Yes there are three PMs. First the one on the Nintendo 64, the second one on the Gamecube, and lastly the third on the Wii.
But still the first PM will always be the classic one. Sure 2 was fun, but 1 is the best.
And if you haven't played the first one, go get yourself a Nintendo 64 and play it!

Whack-OWWW!
Please don't hit me!
Also, do not roast your Whacka bumps. This removes the fullness of flavor and renders them tough and practically inedible.
Also, remember, wild Whackas can only sustain eight bumps to the head before they are sent to that mound of dirt in the sky. Please. Protect endangered species; don't mindlessly kill Whackas.

I played all three. I'm only on the second dungeon of the first one, but so far it's the best by far.

Oh don't worry. Once my Wii is back from the Nintendo fixing shop (DISK READ ERROR!), I'll go after it at once.

Disk read error? Ouch.
But yeah, these games appeal to me more than other Mario games; I guess a good storyline with great dialogue, cute characters, and bright colors really does wonders for a game, huh?
