I searched for Super Smash Brothers Braw; and looked through 7 pages of threads and yet to find a thread solely about this great upcoming game.
If there is, merge or just lock this one.
Here's the website:
http://www.smashbros.com/
Masahiro Sakurai updates the site Monday through Friday with material such as new characters, items, stages, music, and other functions.
This game looks positively amazing. I was gonna by the Wii solely for this game (a friend however sold me one for cheaper then the store price though so I jumped right on it haha). Anyways, this game is gonna rock the world.

They just released the song "Metroid Boss Battle Music" (Ridley Fight). This could mean that Ridley would be a playable character which be amazing.

Possibly. I'm guessing there will be a Metriod stage on a spaceship...or something like that.
I remember hearing that one of the game's producers, maybe Sakurai, said that this game would be "a fanboy's dream come true" or something like that.

Dude, I decided long ago that I was going to buy a Wii for this game only... :3
If Ridley's in this, oh boy...

Ridley? Seriously? I know it's all speculation right now, but that would be amazing, *resists urge to launch into big rant about which characters I think should be in this game*
But yes, it looks like it's going to be amazing. With this game alone Nintendo could probably dominate the video game market. I'm glad I have Wii :3

I'm sure I'll be playing this at some point, yeah. Though I wonder how easy it will be to use the Wii controller for precise movements, my main concern is what will be done with Kirby. He's my favorite character to use, but after he was de-powered in Melee I have trouble using him against good players. I'd be happy with even just a bit more range and knockback.

Anyone else think the barrel and box on the "futuristic" stage look 360 themed?
Anyhow, that page is very incomplete... No mention of Snake.
Wake me when snake shows up.

Bobtheduck, orginally the website had all the characters shown thus far but they started doing weekday updates so we will proably do a more indepth look into the character in later updates.
As for the wiimote, there is four ways of playing it. The wiimote turned on it's side, wiimote and nunchuck, the wii classic controller, or the gamecube controller.
The game pictures look absolutely amazing. I was at work today and somebody purchased a wii and I was telling them how awesome Smash Brothers Brawl looks.
By the way, if a mod could correct the "g" to an "h", that would be groovy.

For a while back there I wanted to get Smash Bros Melee, but since Nintendo is dumb about leaving their newer Greatest Hits games at retail price without lowering it, I think I'll be waiting for this^^ All the new chars look awsome and lots of reappearances from some very old faces... Never played the Kid Icarus game, but looks like a neat new addition^^
Now, if only we could get the original for Virtual Console, then I'll go and buy a points card and drag my Wii to a house where their modem's firewall doesn't suck^^

Ouch. I hope you can get that fixed. In terms of the virtual console, I'm hoping to buy a points card soon so I can buy the original Paper Mario, but that's getting off topic.
I'm really hoping Sonic's going to be in this game, but apparently not, since Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games has been said to be the first game with Mario and Sonic together, and that comes out this holiday season. Oh well.
Now, sticking NiGHTS in would be a really big surprise. After all, one of the composers listed on the musicians page is known only for doing the NiGHTS music. If my hunch is correct--which I'm drawing from that and the fact that including Snake, Sakurai said there would be NO MORE than three third-party characters--then I think that NiGHTS might actually make it into the game. Which would be like so stinkin' awesome.

It would be awesome if Megaman appeared in Brawl.

Megaman would be cool since he basically made his debut on the Nintendo. However, I couldn;t see him being played Smash Brothers.
I am all for Sonic. I have a inkling he will be on the new Smash however Nintendo won't tell us about it until a while after it's release. Like he would be a secret character. Like for Mr. Game and Watch, I didn't know he was in Smash Melee until I got the strategy guide.
It seems thier is a divide between people wanting Smash Brawl exactly like Melee but with new characters, items, stages, music, and better graphics and people who want a entirely new game like how Melee was after the orginal. With new modes, gameplay, etc.
I personally think a combination of the both is the best.
I think we can post our on characters we think would be good on SSBB.
King Dede (Kirby)
Black Shadow (F-Zero)
Ridely (Metroid)
Zant (Legend of Zelda)
Wolf Link and Midna (Legend of Zelda)
Poo (Earthbound)
Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong Country)
Donbe and Hikari (Shin Oni ga Shima)
Lip (Panel de Pon)
Ray 01 (Custom Robo)
Krystal (Starfox Adventures)
General Scales (Starfox Adventures)

In all honesty, I still wanna see the fat dude with the great slapshot from Ice Hockey show up in here at some point (old EGM joke).
...no, really.

Not going to happen. Remember, characters MUST adhere to these rules:
1. The character MUST be a video game character, no anime or manga characters. NiGHTS obviously fits this criteria.
2. The character MUST have appeared on a Nintendo system. While a NiGHTS sequel has been announced for the Wii, it has not been released yet, and thus it does not fit this requirement. So no, NiGHTS is not going to make it into the game.

I believe I mentioned this in the Chat once, but for the rest of you, Japan held a popularity poll to see which 3rd party Ninento characters were the most requested for SSBB. Sonic the Hedgehog came in 1st place, followed by Megaman in 2nd.

Y'know who else would be awesome in Smash Bros. Brawl? Earthworm Jim.

Despite the fact that his default name sounds like what a 12 year old might input, I think he would be fairly unique (not that Jeff wouldn't be). How many martial artists are there in Smash Brothers? I presume they'd have him without the Sword of Stars, anyway.

I would love to see Bomberman, Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark), or Banjo from Banjo Kazooie.

Did solid snake ever appear on a Nintendo system?

He did in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on Gamecube.

I heard he was also in another game for Nintendo. Maybe I am hearing things.

The original Metal Gear came out on the NES.
Anyway, I'd like to see Megaman in this game. He was in the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting games, so why not?

Are you certain? After all,
he
did appear as a playable character in Sonic Riders, which was released on the Nintendo GameCube. While it wasn't his game, he was still there.
You're probably going to disagree, but I just thought I'd point that out.

The original Metal Gear was an SNES title.

That's incorrect.
The original Metal Gear was an MSX title, and was soon imported to the NES.

Perhaps you're thinking of the Metal Gear Solid Game Boy Color game?
Anyhoo, I'm psyched about this game. Not so psyched about having to shell out a good $400-500 at least for the system, controllers, and the games I want to play. Maybe next year . . .
