It sounds as though the game is everything that I had hoped (and though I appreciate character development I prefer plot, so this works for me as well). It was a well-written review and more thorough than I could have provided; thank you.

One question, however: does it set up for a God of War III in direct continuation of the plot?

Yes, absolutely, and with the way God of War II ends, the premise it leaves for the sequel is extremely ambitious and awe-inspiring. I am really looking forward to what the God of War team can do on the PS3 for the third iteration.

Too bad in reality it's for the PSP... :/ Still, I see it being promising (graphics look amazing for PSP!)

Hmm.... What I really meant by "third iteration" is God of War III, which is a sequel being planned for the PS3, and it will be developed by the God of War team in Sony Studios Santa Monica.

The PSP game you are referring to, which was not announced when I made my previous comment, is actually a prequel to the first God of War, and it is being worked on by an independent developer called Ready at Dawn, who made the critically acclaimed Daxter on PSP. I should mention that God of War II director, Cory Barlog, will give some input on this PSP game, which gives me confidence on the PSP game. And I will be looking forward to reviewing that as well.

But yeah, do realize that I made my previous comment before the PSP announcement, and I was referring to God of War III for the PS3.
