My mom actually brought Dance Dance Revolution for our PS2. So far my mom and brother are the ones that are really getting into it in our house. I tried it, and almost fell off due to lack of balance. I am soooo uncordinated.

Start with Lesson mode. It teaches you what to do step by step... Once you get out of lesson mode, go to light. Don't bother with beginner, because you need to be thrown into something harder in order to improve. That's my advice.

Not so much the "difficulty" it's really the amount of "feet" there are, as "light" songs can range from 1 footers to like 6-7 footers. While some "heavy" songs can range from 5 footers to 11+ footers. Start with 1 or two footers. Then gradually go up higher and higher.

Maybe not so much... I had friends that struggled for the longest time, even on beginner, yet other friends I had were really good as a beginner to DDR, on light mode. It just... depends on the person really, and as for me no matter how much I try standard, I'm still extremely bad at it because to me, it's a HUGE jump from light to it (well, I say standard from the Extreme version, since on supernova etc they like to change the words -_-)

Point is, do lesson mode. If you do lesson mode, it doesn't just throw you into songs, it teaches you technique. An hours worth of lesson mode is equal to about 6 hours worth of just dancing in beginner's mode.
