Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games: Your childhood dreams fullfilled

That's right! Mario and Sonic in the same game, together. It appears that Sega is developing this game. Add this to the list of reasons why Sonic can/should be in SSBB.
Link to Sega-Europe's M&S page
I think that some time ago someone had said something about a "Mario and Sonic Olympic game". I think at the time they were joking, but it would be amusing to find that post.

Yet another opportunity for Sonic to prove he's better than Mario has surfaced. 2007 is looking to be a good year for gaming.

Oooo how interesting^^ And it says Wii AND DS... Hmmm maybe a choice there? I guess I'll look into it all more before I decide on which format to get it in (that is, IF it looks good...)

Let's hope he doesn't miss it again like the last few games.

Um... Mario Vs the blue one in track?
If they're true to the games with it, it's not even a race... Sonic would smoke Mario... Like, easily... Now, I'm not sure about swimming... Can Sonic even swim?

Knuckles would be the swimmer on deck.

Can Knuckles swim? I remember Tails being the swimmer (play Sonic 3 for proof).

Yeah Tails can swim (but still not breathe underwater, like normal foxes). I'm pretty sure Knuckles just clings on to walls underwater and that's about it. Don't remember him gliding underwater either (but then again maybe he can... I don't feel like turning the game on right now^^)

Yus, Tails did swim in Sonic 3, however, Knuckles also did in Sonic Adventure 2/2 battle. But also keep in mind, Mario was a good swimmer in Mario 64.
Either way, though, I was laughing looking at this on Nintendo's page, cause the graphics of them on the link provided above are actually of them going over hurdles.....includeing Mario...NOT very possible.

...maybe Luigi. He's always been quite the jumper. Get the princess in there too, and she'll just cheat by floating across them :/

Knuckles took swimming lessons for the Sonic Adventure games (also broke out of a prison on the Gaza Strip). Tails is also a good swimmer from the older series.

I'm digging this thread back up because I want to talk more about it!! Besides, starting a new thread would be completely pointless, especially with this one here anyways...
So yeah; apparently this comes out the 20th of November in the USA, around Thanksgiving. Can't wait to play, though I'm probably going to be sticking on the SEGA side most of the time, even though I'm a big Yoshi fan. ^_^
And Sonic can't swim at all. Well, he could if he tried, but he tries to avoid water if he can. I remember the anime's 3rd season (if you're going by 26 eps to a season) had a planet that was supposed to be bone dry. When they got there, it almost looked like Sonic wanted to just keel over and die...there was water everywhere. Oh yeah; and in episode 5 (I think) Sonic started waving his arms around shouting "Save me!!! Aaauugh!!!" when he fell into a few inches of water.
But anyways, back on topic: did anyone notice the crowds of toads, shyguys, chao, and such?

I noticed!
Oh, I SO can't wait to have a classic Sega vs. Nintendo war with this game. I'll be on Mario's side, but Dr. Eggman running is beyond hilarious.
Oh dear, I CAN'T do it. Curse my love for both Sega and Nintendo!

Actually it is. It REALLY is. I've been making a list of tons of games I'm wanting to pick up this year (should do a topic on that too...)
With this game though, there STILL seems to be little to no info at all on it :/ The only thing I found were some DS screen shots, but haven't seen much on the Wii one yet, though.

Thank you. You saved me the trouble. XD
But seriously, Mario games have had the pleasure of being consistently great, whereas the Sonic series fell from grace after Sonic & Knuckles. SA was good, but not great, and nothing after that is really worth mentioning.
All I will say is, 3D killed Sonic, but Super Mario 64 was fantastic.
Also, Super Mario Bros. 3 is about fifty times better than Sonic 3. XD

Oh, I did too, I thought Sonic Adventure was a good game, but it paled in comparison to the 2D Sonic games, and the 3D Mario games.

Super Mario Sunshine.
Mario Party 1,000,000,000
The bad spin-off titles.
Either way I see it, every series and franchise has a moment of despair in a near perfect history of games. No one is perfect.
I really wish I could make a defense for the 3-D Sonic games though, as it seems they have had some high points. But alas, I get motion sickness from playing them.

It's something about the camera and when you get Sonic going really fast. I can take it during other times, but yes, I get dizzy. This hasn't happened with any other game I've played.

CD-i Zelda, anyone?
Both the Mario and Sonic series have had their ups and downs. They're quite different games, anyway, and can't be compared at exactly the same level.
... I like them both.

Now this is something I've been waiting for a long time for...I grew up with Mario and the gang and I've just gotten into Sonic and his world (starts singing theme song)....
Now all I need to do is go out and get myself a Wii....

It is for DS too, don't forget
Ah just noticed that IGN added pics to the Wii one^^ Too bad the graphics aren't as overly amazing as say, Brawl, but whatever. Looks amusing^^

To be quite honest, I'd rather have them be styled as 2-D sprites with 3-D environments. The nostalgia would be far better then any so called HD nonsense.

That's an interesting idea...
As for the "wonky camera", as I've heard it called, SEGA seems to be notorious for that which Nintendo seems to have mastered. But since SEGA is making this game and Nintendo is supervising, hopefully they'll teach SEGA how to get the camera just right for this game, and the rest in the future.

Sorry to double-post, but in a recent video released on...GameSpot, I think...you can see Sonic in a little orange life-jacket when you pick him for the swimming events.

In that case, Mario will probably get a podracer with hyperdrive. XD
