Recommend a good X-box game

So my roommate and I just got a free x-box from her older brother. I have never been a big x-box fan and we only have 3 games (halo, destroy all humans, and whacked).

I'm wondering what games you guys could suggest for me. Keep in mind they need to meet these specifications:
- no first person shooters....I don't care how good you think Halo is, I really don't want to play it no matter how many people tell me to
- something I can obtain a used copy of rather cheaply
- preferrably a good platformer or rpg/fantasy (these aren't my favorite but I'm willing to try).

Having said that, I welcome your suggestions.

I think Capcom released its Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Xbox shortly after its GameCube and PS2 releases; if you can find that one, it'll be worth playing through. :) (Not having even played one of the things myself, I can't help much otherwise. ^_^; )

[Edit: Having read everyone else's posts thus far, I am under the impression that Mega Man is not very well liked so I won't recommend it again. ...On this thread. ]

I don't have an XBox, so I can't list any specific games. However, you could always browse through EBGames.com and see if you find anything you like. That's what I do.

Fuzion Frenzy.

It's a multi-player game ONLY but it's amazingly fun and probably the best multi-player game you can get.
It's like a much better version of Mario Party only for Xbox.
Also, it's really cheap.
It sells used for $8.99, see:

http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=950081

I highly recommend it to you, Ash. =D

EDIT: As far as RPGs go, there is Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and Fable to name a couple.

Aww. :(

Try Sneak King. Assuming you can still snag one from Burger King. (It's cheap!) It's a retarded, disturbing game beyond all reason, but where else do you get to step into the shoes of a sociopathic stalker popping up out of a trashcan in front of women to "bestow upon them a delicious sandwhich"?

Actually, I don't think Halo is really all that it's cracked up to be. I've played it and it's really quite average. Polished, but average. Now Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath...there was a revolutionary FPS.

True, it wasn't all THAT great, but it was one of the better games for the system.

FPS isn't something I play often, but Metroid Prime is my personal favorite of the genre.

I'm surprised how little attention Jade Empire gets. It's a fantastic RPG set in a kind of Chinese mythological setting. It's wonderful.

Fable is a pretty awesome game. It's a fantasy RPG but still great fun.

The RPG The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. It's arguably one of the best games I've ever played, one of the most immersive and one of the most replayable. Plus you get to fight with swords. Always a bonus! Unfortunately it's on the XBox 360, and you say you got a normal XBox.

If you have not played it yet, Beyond Good and Evil. It is a phenomenal Action/Adventure game.

If you like Star Wars: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. This is a fantastic RPG.

Other games:

Jet Set Radio Future. Skating (not skateboarding) around huge urban environments and graffiti-tagging everything in sight is lots of fun.

Psychonauts: A great Platformer/Adventure game. You get to use psychic powers!

That's what I could think of off the top of my head. All of these should be available for relatively cheap as a used item.

Everyone needs to shut up about Ninja Gaiden because it's terribly hard, and also everyone needs to shut up about Halo and Halo 2 because they're both fantastic games.

So get Halo and Halo 2.

Fable and Knights of the Old Republic for sure. I don't like the Xbox that much, but both of those games are a BLAST. Both KOTOR games are amazing (though I liked the first one better), so definitely get that. No matter what your stance is on the whole star wars universe you'll have fun with it.

I think Phantom Crash is a good game... xD; I'm not quite sure what genre is, but I think it could be considered an action / RPG? @o@a There's a lot of talking at some parts, and there's no voice acting, so it's sorta like... "...zzz..." at some parts, but the fighting's really fun. xD; Yay for mechs. :D

And the music's osm. <3

I second JSRF as well! xD

You sir... just keep getting awesomer and awesomer

*Is quite sort-of-anti-halo-but-pro-Half-Life*

Anyway, this is a regular x-box correct?

You know... I can't think of too many good Halo games, oddly enough. The 360, yes I can think of some. But not the original x-box.

Edit: KOTOR! I FORGOT ABOUT KOTOR! OH AND PSYCHONAUTS!

Knights of the Old Republic
Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Get both of these for sure. They are utterly amazing two of the most complete game packages in existence

Fable: The Lost Chapters
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Jet Set Radio Future
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Psychonauts
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Ninja Gaiden Black
Forza Motorsport
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Burnout 3: Takedown
Freedom Fighters
Chronicles of Riddick

these two fill the number two and number four spots on my top five games of all freakin' time list. Luckily, they can be played on other consoles as well, and they're cheap. Even if you don't own an Xbox, get these games!! They're wonderful!

You guys are all forgetting Burnout: Revenge. It's the best racing game for the system and it's a Greatest Hits title so it's only $20 new.

Now wait a minute...don't I get credit too? I was anti-Halo from post one!

Eric, is Burnout: Revenge anything like Burnout 3? I think that was the one I played...I remember one where you had to crash into all these cars and cause these multi-million dollar crashes at insane speeds and I loved it.

I'm gonna have to say Ninja Gaiden again... I'm definately getting Sigma when it's released. The top games on Xbox are Halo (sorry, I'm a fan of "I love bees" more than Halo really), Knights of the old republic, Ninja Gaiden, and if you like Fighting, there is Dead or Alive... Of course, we have a name for THAT game around here, it's not likely CAA appropriate. Sneak king is a nice diversion, and it's dirt cheap.

There are always classics like Metal Slug... That's all i can think of.
