To be honest, I'm really bored with my DS.
It's most likely because of my game choice.
Jump Superstars = no real gameplay, bad AI, only fun when facing off against someone else. No online play to compensate.
Metroid Prime = horrible single player campaigne, only good when online. great when multiplayer LAN, but I've never done it before.
Mario Kart DS = Horribly easy single player, only fun when playing online, but even then, it only puts me up against people who've only played like 5 times or less most of the time. More easyness.
These games have all become boring.
I only got Metroid Prime Hunters to play online with, but the only thing you can play online is Deathmatch, unless somehow you're able to get millions of friends in your local area, and add them all to your friends list AND regularly set up times with them to play CTF and stuff. Ya know, the REAL MPH Online. And don't even get me started on the horrible maps, and (sometimes) one sided weapons and power-ups (DeathAlt?! Come on!).
I got jump superstars, because I thought it would be at least somewhere as fun as SSB. I was wrong. One button is in charge of super moves, one for medium attacks, and one for weak attacks. Basically, it brings button-masher to a whole new level. The AI doesn't even try to be a challenge. It sits there (Even when on Tsuyoi mode in exibition) and waits for you to pull off your strongest combo. Not Cool.
I got Mario Kart as the first DS game I've ever gotten. ONLY because of the online play, which sucks. I can only take going against people who've just played MKDS for the first time 5 minutes ago, for so long. Too many noobs. It's because I used to let my friends play online sometimes, but when I try and restore my rank, it doesn't help at all.
Now, let me explain my situation to you guys.
My friends all like the DS. they love it infact, and every chance we get, we borrow my sisters' DS's and they play against me (I'm using my own, btw).
Problem #1: My sisters don't have the same games as me. so, I can't play the full versions of games against my friends. It's always the stripped down version like:
a. MKDS: they can only pick random Shy Guys, while I use Yoshi.
b. Metroid Prime Hunters: They can only pick Samus and we can only play Deathmatch on limited maps.
c. Jump Superstars: Only play on ONE stage, using the weakest 3 decks I've ever seen!
Problem #2: My friends don't have DS's, and since they need to use my sisters' DS's, it doesn't always work out. Either my sisters are already busy with their DS's or They just wanna be strict and say that they can't use them.
So, My DS continues to collect as much dust as it can. Horrible Single player, AND Online play, due to friend code limitations. It's the least boring thing my DS ever does, so it goes right ahead!
So, anyway, Let's see how my games score on the "Catering to my gaming needs while on the go!" chart!
MPH: 2.5/5
MKDS: 2/5
JSS: 1.5/5
I dunno what to do. when the DS first came out, I wanted it so badly, but now... No matter how much I try to convince myself otherwise, I'm bored of it. Bored out of my mind.
Now, there are better games out, yeah, but not too many of them use the online feature, or have a good single player campaigne.
The new StarFox is something I've had my eye on, but I heard that single player is amazingly boring, just like my other DS games.
Bleach DS. That's out in Japan, and looks like a good online game.
Problem: If I import it, I'll just play with collasal lag, as I'll only be playing against people in Japan. That's wireless connection, with a small, weak, handheld device, pushed all the way to the other side of the world. Lags anonymous.
Problem #2: It should be coming out in USA, in not too long. Like at the end of the year, I predict. Thing is, I can't wait that long!
My DS is boring me out of my mind! That's why!
I went to gamestop, and I didn't find any particularly epic titles. maybe I'll find better ones, somewhere else, I dunno, but the ones I saw there were puzzle games (not my type), liscenced movie games (do I really have to say anything?), and other things. maybe I wasn't looking hard enough (even though I stood there for a pretty good amount of time, comparing and finding titles I haven't seen before), I dunno, but nothing there was interesting enough for me to buy it. :/
Maybe you guys can help me.
Wii's coming out soon. Maybe I should just trade it in.
Maybe I should just wait... i dunno. :/

This is exactly why I never bought a DS. I was happy with my PSP, and it didn't get boring for me (but somone stole it, so I'm outta luck one way or the other). Yes, the DS has fun games, but most of them are just mini-games and the like, and the few games that aren't mini-game-centric are short and get old quickly.
No offense to anyone, but as I've seen the DS game library grow and grow, the more and more I feel as though the whole touch screen idea was just a gimmick. There was only one touch screen game that interested me, and that was Trace Memory (and only because I love point-and-click adventures). Yes, the touch screen brings some innovation to gaming, but I think they could have done without it and made a new Game Boy instead of this.
Shia, I hope you start to like your DS again soon. Maybe some game will come out and you will absolutely love it, and you will find purpose in your DS again. New Pokemon is due out sometime, probably before summer of '07 (but I'm not sure how accurate that is), so maybe that's a reason to get it.
I plan on getting a DS solely for playing pokemon, because it's the only Nintendo portable game I've found myself coming back to over and over again.

Personally, I haven't played any of the games you mentioned, because I don't really care about online play, and I have no one to play against. I do, however, think there are several good games for the DS that I can recommend if you're interested. The games are Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Trauma Center: Under the Knife(really good use of the stylus in this one), and Castlevania: (I can't remember the subtitle of this one. ^^; ). These are my absolute favorite DS games, but they don't really have any online features, so I don't know if they'd be something you'd be interested in or not.

Since Raiden did so well at offering advice other than video games, I think I'll give some about video games. 
(No offense Rai. Twas some good advice)
If you're looking for some good games I've found a couple on the DS that are at least worth looking at. First off, if you're looking for a fun RPG style game with humor abundant and a unique battle system I would suggest Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. I found the game very enjoyable, and I really like the battle system and the different ways it challenges you.
If you've always wanted to be a doctor when you grew up, then you should check out Trauma Center: Under the Knife. A very unique game where you perform surgeries on sick people and cure them of their diseases. The gameplay is really fun and easy to pick up. In addition, the challenges get harder as you go along, making you learn to perform the surgeries faster and more accurately. A great game.
If you like Turn Based Strategy, go get Advance Wars: Dual Strike, NOW. One of the funnest turn based games I've ever played. Essentially, you choose your CO(s) for battle, each of which have specific advantages and disadvantages, and duke it out with other COs in many different and unique scenarios. The addition of Dual Strikes, where you use two COs at the same time and initiate both of their Super CO Powers one after the other, adds a new level of strategy to the gameplay making it even more fun.
And last, but certainly not least, Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney. You play as the up-and-coming defense attorney Pheonix Wright as he battles his way through 5 unique cases filled with twists and turns. As Pheonix, you travel around to the crime scenes, find clues, make inquiries, and then face off in court, finding faults in witness testimonies to prove your client is innocent and prove who the real criminal is.
Now that I've stopped sounding like an infomercial, I'll just reiterate that these four games are worth at least a look-see.

Don't trade in just yet, Shia. A slew of RPG ones should be coming in soon, which might bring you in (forget Children of Mana and FFIII though; I demand Magical Starsign!!).
And there's still quite a few pretty good games out there. Kirby Canvas Curse is fairly short, but really fun (more replay if you hunt down the medals, which actually unlock some pretty good stuff for once), and Meteos has got to be one of the best puzzle games I've played in awhile (as I said before, "SSB the Puzzle Game" ).
And yes, Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents seem like they'd be pretty entertaining (haven't played yet, but I'll be getting EBA when it comes out).

I think Dincht is just referring to fanboys in general and what they're reaction would be to someone announcing that they traded in their DS.

The DS is still pretty much at the beginning of it's life span. Give it a little time.

Yeah, I wish they had a larger selection of RPGs for the Nintendo DS. But I'm just going to wait and see what they bring out too. So far I've only got three DS games and 3 GBA games for it, but I'm enjoying my DS all the same. But I think I've got different tastes to a lot of people; probably more like your sisters' tastes or something. I've got Harvest Moon DS, Animal Crossing and Brain Age, as well as Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, Megaman Battle Network 3 (seriously, if you haven't tried any of the games in the Battle Network series before, I'd suggest trying one) and Mario Advance 4... I think it is. It's the GBA version of the Super Mario Bros. 3 from the Nes. Man, I had that game for the Nes ages ago... so fun! ^^

Apparently it's not the FF3 that was released in English ages ago, but one that was truly the third in the series, but never translated and sold in the US (and other countries like Britian and NZ, for that matter). So it's a 'new' final fantasy for the English market, or so I've heard.
