The newest game in the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, came out in Japan last Thursday for the Nintendo DS, and with it a whole new batch of pokemon ^^. For anyone who's interested, here is a list of the new pokemon, along with some pictures.

I have to say that a lot of these new Pokemon are very ugly. This time we have a lot of new evolutions and pre-evolutions for old Pokemon and some very interesting type combos (Ice/Grass, Ghost/Dragon). For the first time ever we also seem to have legendary pokemon that evolve ^^.

I think they're just runnign out of new ideas... some of them I think look pretty cute and stuff^^ I actually kinda miss playign the game... I stopped buying them at Gold/Silver and played through a little bit of a Ruby rom, but that was it. Either way, the games are still VERY expensive and wouldn't want to walk into a store and say "Can I get that Pokemon (insert colour here). It's for my uhh... little cousin" :/

They really should have just stopped at 150. Even Gold/Silver taking the count up to 300 was pushing it. But, anyways, new Pokemon games.

Myaaa, I cant wait till it comes to the states!! Some of the pokemon look a little odd. Like the one with a tree growing out of it.

Oman, these're cool.
DD *is a total Pokemon fan* <3333
I think this'll be the first time I actually like the non-fire starter Pokemon, looks wise. D: The penguin thing looks freakishly cool. <3 [The second stage I mean. xD;]

Yet more of these games? I respect the original in the sense that it was a new concept at the time and was executed fairly well. But the fact that there are so many new games with really very little new substance has made me completely give up on the franchise. Games should sell cheap derivative merchandise, not be it. Not that I'm endorsing the former.

This is only good due to the existance of Glacia and Plantia

Yeah I wouldn't want that monkey one :/ And that second penguin kinda looks like an owl^^ Yeah I'd probably end up starting for with the Pocchama ^^ Heh it reminds me that when I played my Ruby rom I was already SO used to the Japanese names that I gave them their orginal nicknames for everyone I caught^^ Got a little confusing though...
In this game though I'd say my favorites would have to be...
405, 418, 419, 425, 448, 470, 471, 483, and 493. That's pretty much it^^

I'm looking forward to this game. It's the first pokemon game I'll have touched since the originals.
On another note:
According to many sources around the net, (Still looking for official confirmation, though) Pokemon diamond and pearl shipped and SOLD OUT 2 million copies in Japan. Also, over 500,000 DS's where sold that day.

I'll end up getting them, as always. Although I think these should be the last ones. They've milked the franchise long enough. Pokemon was a great series during it's hayday, but it really needs to die soon before it starts to severly burn itself out.

Well, I'm not taking a look at any of the new Pokemon. I want to be surprised. :p Though I have seen a fair share of them already, due to a couple of sites I frequent. Looks to be pretty standard, though, new pre-forms for the old ones, a few new ones. Legendaries that EVOLVE though? Fan-freaking-tastic.
What I'd really like to see them do is a pokemon that evolves like Pip from Chrono Cross, though. Whatever move types it uses or has used against it, would evolve it into a form of that type, and then a second stage would further evolve it. Though that would take a LOT of work from a programming stance, given the number of types of pokemon there are, it would be sweet...plus, it would make for some interesting dual types (like fire/water or ghost/grass).

It's REALLY hard to say for the Japanese though. They LOVE their Pokemon. It's like a fan-favorite over there. Like you've think shows from the 70s like Doreamon and Lupin 3 would end, but they are STILL making movies today. Kids from the newer generations grow up with the anime and the games so it's great for the younger ones who were too young to get into it. Besides, either than the whole thing of the giant robot phenomenon, Pokemon's the one other thing that is SO orginal to Japan.... pretty much^^

If they want to keep making more games then they should eventually make an Eevee evolution of every type. That would be cool. steel type eevee, flying type Eevee.
I want a Scorpi, Dorapion, and Masukippa.

Here's an interesting question: for those who've bought the games before, which do you usually pic? Like... do you buy the version that has the better looking character on the box? More favorite colour? Or because you know the different monsters that are exclusive to each and pic that? (Guess when it coems to legendaries, the one on the box IS it's exclusive). For Diamond/Pearl I'd rather get Diamond (first) if I were even get one.

I think with Red/Blue and Gold/Silver I ended up buying the version that was availible. I'd go to the store and they'd only have one of the two versions, so I'd get that one. But with Ruby/Saphire I chose Saphire on purpose because I like Team Aqua more than Team Magma.

With Red/Blue, I looked at the Pokemon exclusive to each version and decided, "Okay, I don't care about that one, but I really want this one, so I'll get this version." With Gold/Silver I bought both at the same time, so it didn't matter. XD With Ruby/Sapphire I think I got Ruby first, I don't remember why (it may have been the only version there). With FireRed/LeafGreen I got green because it's my favorite color.

I've always wondered why they didn't make a grass type Eevee because of the Leaf Stone. I'd really like to see a grass evolution of Eevee, but I can't see how they would make an evolution for types like Dragon, Steel, or Flying. Unless you had like...a Wing Stone? Wind Stone? I dunno.

The new list has both a grass and steel evolution of Eevee. I think they're slowly moving toward having all the types, but they probably want to keep room open for even more versions of the game.

For me with the different game versions... not sure WHY I picked blue over red. Think it was moreso the colour cause if I new me back then, not sure why I didn't pick the one with the dragon on it^^ Then I got yellow cause I mean, Pikachu was SO cool then! With gold/silver, got them both at the same time too. I remember reading mags that said they were both sold out in Japan at the time (a familiar case it seems^^) so I was like "I gotta get them both NOW!"

For the different versions, I bought Blue because it matched my Purple GBC.
;;; And for G/S, I got both. o: For R/S, I got Ruby, 'cause I thought Groudoun looked cooler than Kyogre. xD; And for FR/LG, I got both.

Hmm... I think I'd be more interested in the games if they changed the formula more.
I'm not a pokemon fanatic, but I've played the games. They're fun, but they seem to be pretty much upgraded repetitions of each other. On Gamespot I read something about them trying to change the formula with Pokemon ranger somewhat, but I think if they approached things from a different perspective altogether (don't ask me what. Maybe... a platform game? o_O" ) it'd be better. I mean, I love my random, brightly coloured, highly powerful monsters as much as the next guy... but still.
If they explored new sides of the pokemon realm or something (the idea for Pokemon Rescue Team'... was that the name? ...sounded interesting, but from reviews I've heard that the game was a disappointment)... perhaps greatly enhancing the battles and making them more of an interactive rather than menu-based deal, or something like that, it'd be better.

The new list has both a grass and steel evolution of Eevee.
The new types are Grass and Ice.

Somewhat related to the topic. here are the new opening and ending themes for the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl anime series. I think the pokemon look a lot better animated than they do in the actual game.
