I'm usually not one for sports games, but after finding out some more about this Square-Enix title, I might be considering it. Especially after hearing about the extra characters, including Moogle, Black Mage, White Mage, Ninja, and, of all things, Cactaur!

Sounds to be shaping into an interesting title. =D

Sweet. I'm very tempted now.... but, I am probably going to wait on the review. Sounds like a fun time killer between classes, though.

Looks like someone posted up a Japanese Ad on Gamespot:

If this wasn't a DS title I'd get it... meh. Still, Looney Toons B-Ball ftw!

That Ad makes me want it more now. XD

Why if it wasn't on DS? o.o

Well, I'm waiting for the video to load (stupid dial-up GRAHH!). Wait, wait, wait, moogles and Mario... TOGETHER?! I mean, the whole Square elements look fun, but as I don't have a DS... I just don't understand how they can pull it off.

meh...

It's nice to know they are mkaing sports video games for the kids.

I find it funny how japanese characters has to motivate most of us to play this.

It looks fun but not any more fun than "Street Hoops" or "NBA Street Vol.1-3. (Yes, I know Mario was in the Gamecube version of NBA Street Vol.3 but I don't know anyone who actually bought that.

Anyways, I just found it funny how Myoti doesn't like Sports games but he will play it because Mario and FF creatures are in it.

When they make "Mario's Pro Skating", I will die.

Actually Tom, I typically don't like any sports games or racing games EXCEPT the Mario ones. Why? Because to me, they're actually fun. I was actually considering the game before the FF characters were mentioned (though it does make me more interested now).

It isn't "here's a the usualsports game with Mario," it's a Mario game with a sports theme.

Well, more power to you. I personally haven't liked a Mario version of anything more than the original.

What I mean is, I like sports video games alot, and I find the Mario video games fun, but I find normal sports games more fun.

It's just too kiddish for me to handle. I don't mind Mario Baseball as much as others, but I find games like Mario Tennise to be extremely mediocre.

I guess since I'm a huge sports fan, I just find sports games with Mario less appealing.

I'm looking forward to this game actually. I really liked the Mario Tennis game (the GBA game consumed me for a while) and I'm hoping this game will turn out alright and not take the plunge like it's base ball counterpart (didn't like it because of it's strange controls and such).

I don't see how you could love Mario Baseball but hate Mario Tennis. I found Mario Baseball to be tedious and annoying, while I found Mario Tennis to be really fun with it's fast pacing.

And as for buying the game for the Characters, that's not why I'm looking forward to it at all. I bought the Tennis game because I didn't know of any others, and I enjoyed playing the demo. I'm looking forward to this game because I'm hoping that it'll bring the fun that I loved in the Tennis game.

I don't either. I said I could tolerate it. I just played it once on two player with CAA user Monkey J. Luffy and I tried the tennise one as well. I don't like the Baseball one, but I could play it for more than two seconds without turning it down.

It's nice to see that Mario fans are inspired to play sports now. Japanese sports games are a rarity. Have you seen Blitzball in FFX? You took turns......IN A SPORT!

What he said pretty much sums up my thoughts, though I haven't played too much of Mario Tennis, though tennis sports games are some of the few I like.

I just typically don't find sports games that much fun. I didn't like the Mario soccer or baseballs ones, probably because it didn't feel like I had as much control over the action and such. But Mario Tennis you were typically controlling just one character, which made things more fun (plus all the cool little modes and power shot stuff; I should really go rent this game now =D ). Because this one is on the DS and is only 3-on-3, it seems that would be easier (and more fun) to control, and, as said above, the power shots and modes make things all the more interesting.

THEN I'll add in the bonus characters as a factor. XD

I DON'T LOVE MARIO BASEBALL!
I could tolerate it for more than two seconds, but it is nowhere near my Top 100.

Tennise is fine in real life, but Mario reminded me why I don't like it in video games. Unlike baseball, Mario Tennise beats normal Tennise games, but any baseball game i prefer over the Mario one. MVP 2006 is in my Top 10 list of games, mught I add.

I never saw the point in baseball games. Even in the real game, there's really not much action, since most of the time you're just standing around and waiting for the batter to hit before you can go anywhere. Doesn't sound like the kind of thign that can really translate well into a video game.

EDIT: The one time I had fun with a baseball game was one we had on the NES, and our system was REALLY glitchy, so it made the balls look like stacked boomerangs and the people were alien abominations. XD
I had more fun trying to get beanballs on everyone, really.

The chances of me playing this outside of in a random social situation are rather low, but I suppose it was inevitable, given all the other Mario sports games. Personally, I tend not to like sports games and the addition of Mario isn't enough to make them interesting for me. I suppose the exception is racing games, which I would never play normally, whereas I did like Mario Karts (of course, the same applies to any racing game with weapons).

When they make "Mario's Pro Skating", I will die.

Actually I like sports games, but seeing a random plummer resembling Saddam Hussein hit home runs as opposed to David Ortiz, reduces the fun to an extreme level.

It's really the gameplay that interests me a bit, then tack on the characters. I'm not saying I'll buy this immediately (or ever), but it's one of the few sports titles in general that actually grabbed my attention.
