The Longest Journey is a game that I saw once while I was browsing through games in a store once. It looked pretty interesting but after that day I didn't think much of it. When I saw a trailer for the sequel: Dreamfall: The Longest Journey I was really impressed. Both games look really complex and rich in storyline. I am planning on purchasing these but I was wondering if any of you have played either of these already and could say a little about what you think about it.

From what I've heard, the content area is pretty nasty (lesbianism, EXTREME bad language, etc)...so I probably won't be playing these any time soon.
However, I've also heard that it's one of THE best adventure games out there...so it's all up to you. ^^

Hearsay. Granted my own comment is opinion as well b/c i've not played anything more than the Longest Journey demo.
but yeah...quote: [quote] I have to comment on the Mature rating. The script drops the F-bomb twice (maybe three times), and other than that there is nothing here worse than a PG movie (not even a PG-13). You see Zoe in her underwear but even that is tastefully done. There is no violence of any substantial content, so parents should not be concerned to let teens play this game. It’s a shame the game got the dreaded “Mâ€

I just got my information on Wiki (for the most part), and decided not to play it. ^^;; So yeah, I can't really say anything for sure.

I have played The Longest Journey (the first game).
Overall, I thought it was a good game. There was some profanity, though I do not recall it being terribly prevalent. Certainly not as much as a game like something from the GTA series or maybe FEAR.
The lesbian aspect IS there, although it is not something that is really involved in the gameplay beyond being background. There is a character (the landlady of the main character) who is in a lesbian relationship and she will talk about it with you if you have a conversation with her. It is not a pervasive part of the game at all, but it is nonetheless there.
My feeling is that I will not willfully support anything that presents homosexuality in a positive light. So if I were to have known about the lesbian aspect I would not have purchased the game.
However, other than that, the game was well made and interesting with little violence and no nudity or real sexual content. The real moral issue is the one concerning the support of homosexuality. That, I suppose, depends upon your own moral views on the subject and whether or not you feel alright giving money to something that portrays such things in a positive light.

I've always really wanted to play The Longest Journey. When it was released the screencaps and level designs looked stunning and the story was also evidently quite strong as well. The reviews that I read were all positive and I'm always drawn to adventure games with pretty graphics. But then the 'M' rating scared me away :/
*le sigh* One of these days I might try to pick it up, especially if I stumble across it at the store. Assuming it's still even in stores. Really, the content doesn't sound quite as bad as I had imagined.

Hmmn... now that I know about the adult themes in the first game I am now more skeptical...
Are the same homosexual elements in the sequel?
