Personally, I'm excited to see them doing it, but we'll have to wait to see how it really ends up (pointing out the previous experiences with such films). :/

Wait, shouldn't this be moved to General Entertainment? It is a MOVIE even if it is based on a video game, we didn't keep Advent Chidren threads over here, no offence whatsoever.

Honestly, if this movie comes out horrible, I would not be surprized AT ALL.
I have yet to see a movie based on a video game that was worth the hype.

Very true. I don't know what Hollywood's issue with games is. You would think they hated games with all the bad game movies out there xD

Anderson did a fairly good job with Resident Evil, and I feel he will handle Castlevania well.

At least this one isn't being done by Uwe Boll. (Thank God.)

Oh, RE was good? *hasn't seen*

It's funny, though. Before I heard about this, I thought Uwe Boll was the one that did RE. Xp

AvP was pretty good as well (besides the bull crap of one alien killing two Predators -_- ).

RE may have been good but it had no relevance to the game.

Well, I've only seen the movie (the second one) but according to my cousin (hardcore RE fan and an even more hardcore Silent Hill fan, irrelevantly) they had no similarites plotwise, which, correct me if I'm wrong, a plot is more essential to a movie than a videogame.

As far as AVP goes, there was three Predators fighting an army of Aliens.

It's not supposed to. It's an alternate universe storyline. And it does a fine job on it's own.

So you are saying that if a videogame based movie has a different plot than the game it automatically makes it bad?

If Boll had shot the movie, it would have gone something like this:

Game Plot: A special forces team investigating a series of grizzly murders end up trapped in a mansion where a virus has leaked infecting and mutating everything in site. Eventually they discover a secret lab underneath, realize one of their own is a traitor, (Wesker) and defeat the Tyrant with a Rocket Launcher.

Uwe Boll Version: Escaped convicts try to escape from a forest where a virus has leaked infecting and mutating every living creature in site. Eventually they come upon a shack where a secret lab is underneath where they find insane mad scientist Wesker who is spreading the virus for no particular reason, and after defeating him, they Kung-Fu fight with the Tyrant.

Ah. I... see. XD

So?! They were suppose to be "teh OWNage" against these things and they were just... teh suckage. -o-

Hmm... There have been two good video game based movies... Silent Hill and Advent Children, each with their glaring flaws but that can be said about almost any big movie, so that's not a problem overall...

I didn't think RE and AvP were that bad (AvP was based on comics, not the games...) but they weren't great, either... Aliens > AvP by far, and... Well, I wasn't much of a predator fan, but the originals still beat AvP... AvP > Alien Resurrection, though, for sure... Man, was that movie awful...

Pretty much everyone I've talked to said RE:A was horrible...

GRAVEDUG.

So it appears that three 80-minute animated films will be created based upon Castlevania III's storyline, directed by Warren Ellis. Reading the blog entries (PM me if anyone wishes to see them) gives me good expectations.

However, I'm still unsure whether or not the live-action film will be still be produced (even if it's gamer fanservice, though, I'd still be first in line for that 8D ).
