The Ask-About-the-Content-of-a-Game Thread

The thread title's self explanitory(I hope). We all have different things we don't like that would make us not want to play a game. Here you can ask if these things are included in certain games you're looking to buy.
This isn't technically a review thread. But if you want to give your opinion on a game that's asked about, that should be okay, I guess. Let's just leave the profesional looking reviews for the game review database that will, someday, be made.
Remember, some of you may consider a game great that others wouldn't want to play because of specific subject matter. My own personal example would be the Metal Gear series. As far as game mechanics go, it's an excellent series, but I can't enjoy playing it because of the amount of in-your-face anti-nuke propaganda.
So, go ahead, ask away.

The In-Your-Face Anti-Nuke propaganda is one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much!

Well then.

Hopefully people will realize that this is an info thread, not a thread meant for debate. I'm sure there are plenty of things I don't mind(or even things I like) that others would detest. Shia Kyosuka disagrees with me, and that's fine 'n dandy. As long as he and I don't start debating the virtues and evils of nuclear technology this thread should be fine. The main thing I'm worried about is the thread degenerating into a "You shouldn't get this game because because it has stuff I don't like in it" debate.

Yeah. that sounds good actually... I just figured I'd put my 2 cents in before it got doomed.
On the topic, now that I've done KOTOR 1 and 2, I'm looking for some sort of game to play with similar mechanics until 3 comes out. I don't like FPS and don't do well with realtime without a pause.
Any ideas?

Jade Empire should be right up your alley. I hear it's alot like KOTOR, but with an ancient Chinese setting.
I know it recently came out, but has anybody played Grandia III yet? I'm wondering if it has the same anti-religion theme as it's predecessor.

I hope not. That was pretty offensive.
I'll look up Jade Empire, thanks

Grandia III. Yes, CR I have it.
It is an AMAZING game but the plot lacks compared to the other Grandias with the exception of Xtreme.
So far, no innapropriate content and I know they won`t make God evil this time.
How about Valrykie Profile, Lunar 1 for PS1, Parasite Eve (this one epecially), and Vagrant Story.
I`m rying to decide between those four games and buy one with my Birthday money.

Actually, I've always kind of wanted to get Parasite Eve, and it's pretty cheap used at Gamestop, but... I just never got around to it. If anyone can give a little bit about what kind of content is in that game, it'd be appreciated.

Sorry, I thought you had an X-Box since you had KOTOR(I forgot it came out on the PC as well).
How about Valrykie Profile, Lunar 1 for PS1, Parasite Eve (this one epecially), and Vagrant Story.
Lunar 1 has a humans-don't-need-gods-because-if-we-believe-in-ourselves-we-can-do-anything theme. Thanks to the Working Designs localization, there are some sex jokes and modern cultural references. Also, you can collect things called bromides that are basically pictures of the female characters wearing very little(it's totally optional, though).
I haven't played Parasite Eve, but from what I've heard, the sexual content warning is just for sperm being referenced in a purely medical sense. You still may want to wait till you find out more, though.
Vagrant Story is yet another RPG that looks unfavorably on the Catholic church and God. The bad guys are, of course medieval crusaderish knights. One main character even tells them that they worship a dead god.
Be sure to give me an update if you find any anti-religious content in Grandia III, Tom.

I didn't play through it all the way; but from what I saw Its very gorry and has some challenging puzzles and bosse's. It wasn't my grain of salt; but if you liked the Resident Evil or Silent Hill series then you won't have much problem with it.

Parasite Eve has some pretty gruesome scenes of mutation. Mitochondria plays a key role throughout the game, and causes some pretty disturbing things to happen. I'm an avid fan of Res-Evil and Silent Hill, and I'd say PE ranks alongside most Silent Hills, if not moreso for disturbing content.

Which RE is it most like? I have played RE4 but I haven't gotten around to playing the others, though I know how they play.

I was looking into the X series...Megaman X5 and X6, specifically. What is the deal with the 'souls' in them?
Ah, I forgot...the Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. What's it like?

You may want to get the Megaman X compilation instead, since it has MMX1-6. I've played almost all of MMX5, and I don't really understand what you mean by "souls". Can you clarify that a little bit?

Having only heard of the game, and not played it, I can't help you there. But you shouldn't feel stupid asking about a game. One reason I made this thread is so that people could just go ahead and ask about a game without making a thread about it.

Can anybody tell me how bad the "strong language" is in killzone?

The strong language label pretty much gives the go ahead to use the s and f words. I haven't played Killzone, so I couldn't tell you how often those words are used.

One game I think certainly has a message that coincides with Christianity is Kingdom Hearts. This is because even though Ricu has joined the Heartless, Sora never gives up on him and still considers him a friend. His persistence is not wasted, and at the end
Ricu does manage to intervene.
That`s a good point you made, Rocklobster, but this ist he ask-about-content-of a game-thread not tell-about- the- comment- of- a- game.
You make a good point but no one asked.

Lot's of games/movies/books/anime have similar themes. Friendship is not unique to Christianity.
