Final Fantasy 7...

I just got this game a few days ago... because I've been curious about it ever since it came out.
and I must say:
Wow! I didn't expect it to be this great!
I play action games, RPG's usually bore me.
But, this game just has... something that pulls even a gamer like me into the game. I've never been so interested in beating an RPG!
This game truely does deserve its place as one of the best games ever made! Hopefully, there'll be a remake on the rev.

False Hope, I say.
If you Like FFVII you should play FFIX, which I (and many others think) Is the best *Final Fantasy on the PlayStationOne.
Anyways, 'Glad to see you enjoying yourself.
*Does not inculed Tactics, though that too is a great game.

FF7 surely has the best characters and a pretty awesome plot. The game also features the best villian in any videogame.
I have to say FF8 has the best plot of any FF game, but I do not recommend to you since the plot is boring compared to FF7 the first couple of hours.
Might I ad, a remake on the rev is HIGHLY unlikely. You can hope though. A demo for the PS3 was released ,but I think it was just made to show off the PS3`s power.
If you are really interested ,there is a movie sequel coming out soon and a sequel to FF7 that is 3RD PERSON SHOOTER. Yes, the new sequel is not an RPG. If you want any more info, feel free to PM me.
I highly recommend FF9 to you as well. I have watched your gaming interest and I believe you would find 9 more enjoyable than 7 but I could be wrong.

Oh yeah, ff7 is indeed a VERY good one. I love it
May I also recommend Final Fantasy 6? The graphics are outdated, but it is my favorite in the series. (FF7 may have the "best" villan, but FF6 has the bestest villan!
)

Yeah, I've been hearing about that one too... I'll check into it. ^_^

FF7 was my first (regular) Final Fantasy game, and the reason I bought a Playstation. Great game. I disagree with the statement of best villain, though. Sephiroth was actually pretty lame. Jenova was cool, though.

Sephiroth.....lame........BLASPHEMY!
Seriously, he`s just the coolest looking villian with the coolest looking weapon. His motives are explainable unlike Kefka who is just insane, but he justs sits on his can until you fight him.

Well... at least I thought Sephiroth was the best. heheh

There are a lot of characters with a large long katana
I will give credit that sephiroth looks pretty cool. But his character is quite unrealistic. (Kefka dont need to be unrealistic, hes crazy) It's got the whole "pity me I had a bad life" kinda ring to it.

Yeah, Sephiroth was by no means original. People just THINK he was original because it was one of the first 3D RPGs and they'd never seen someone with a big katana like that.
He WAS cool-looking, I admit that. But lots of things are cool-looking that aren't cool at all.
Like the Virtual Boy.

Virtual Boy didn't look cool. It looked sorta like binoculars with a tripod. :/ Didn't look cool at all.
I've always been a fan of the whole "Really bad life" type of villian. *shrug* I just do, I guess.
EDIT: no no wait, that's just a stand. not a tripod.

Sephiroth is, hands down, the coolest
looking villain, even if he's not the
best.
Kefka, on the other hand, is a good villain, even if he doesn't look as cool (but he's insane, which makes up for it
).

Yeah, this was a great game.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot is very good, the characters are all lovable (except for Cait-Sith...He was kinda pointless, haha), and the materia system is so easy to use, and really useful. Sephiroth is a very cool character, no matter how unoriginal some people may think he is. Unoriginal doesn't always equal stupid, d0oDzorz.
Anyways, have fun while you play it! And remember: no matter how annoying the chocobo breeding gets, the Knights of the Round materia is ALWAYS worth it.

heh heh aye it sure is teh sweetest summon. i loved FF7 to bits i was just drawn in by teh plot, the characters the style of the game, just pretty much everything about the game left me a now hardcore FF7 fan.

FF7 is just... wow! My friend would ALWAYS talk about it and I actually bought the game before I got my PS2, just cause. I HAD to play that game the way they made it sound! Later on played FFX and all (which I wuv just as much^^) and still in the process of beating FF X-2^^
I was never a Sephiroth fan girl either :/ Too many long, white/silver-haired guy that are villians in anime and stuff :/ Still a VERY interesting plot, I mean he was crazy and all for reasons (I mean, wouldn't YOU be devastated, just a little?) Meh, he played his part well. I won't complain about him, but I'm not gunna freak out going "WOW! He's SUCH a bishie! Best villan EVAAA!"

It seems like some of the other long-silvered har villians in anime are based off Sephiroth.
I have made my own plots, characters, thought of a battle system for my on RPG, and I couldn`t help but have at least one be based off Seph. He has long, purple hair though since he represents darkness and black is a natural color.....
back on topic...
Never got the Knights of the Round. Don`t even know what it looks like.
Trust me, it isn`t required if you want to beat Sephiroth, but the Weapons, I had some tough problums with those guys.

Ripping on the Virtual Boy! How dare you!? All it did was make your eyes hurt after just a few minutes of play time!...And had red and black lines as graphics...And...I'll stop.
Buy I'll definately agree J-E-N-O-V-A > Sephiroth...Kefka just flat out owns, he's by far one of the most insane villains of all time.
Oh, and if you beat Emerald and Ruby without KotR, then MAJOR props to you (Unless you somehow cheated). But for me, KotR is almost always a necessity in beating them, although I can do it...Uusually if I mess with my materia junctions a bit, I can manage to get at least 2 characters to start with 7777 off the bat, making the battles A LOT easier.

Jenova....better than Sephiroth.......
How?
She didn`t have a line she was just a giant monster?
I`m sure Sephiroth likes Sephiroth. XP

Jenova spoke NUMEROUS times in FF7.
Whenever you saw "Sephiroth" in the game, it was Jenova taking Sephiroth's form. Remember, Sephiroth never left the Northern Cave, ever, for the entire game. So Jenova was the major presence in the game, though it was using Sephiroth's form to interact...so that means Jenova was speaking all those times. Remember after Aeris died, "Sephiroth" said, "You don't have any feelings. You are..." The tentacle then drops down and you fight Jenova LIFE. After the battle, the screen turns black and it shows Jenova saying, "You are a puppet." So yeah, Jenova spoke a lot. Since Sephiroth basically sat in the Northern Cave and did nothing, and Jenova was the one interacting with you the entire game (save for a few key moments in the Northern Cave), it is my opinion that Jenova is much cooler than Sephiroth.
I actually... don't. Mine are... quite different... many making you wonder who the true villain is...
And yes, JENOVA = Aweshumness.
*hums the JENOVA battle theme*

For all you Kefka lovers, even the villain from the first FF was cooler than Kefka. At least he had some kind of time paradox going for him. Kefka's just a psycho with roid rage. There's no villain more unoriginal than Kefka's, "I'm evil because I'm insane."
Sephiroth, on the other hand, is quite an original character. His design may scream typical long-haired, sword wielding, bad guy, but his motivations were different than most villains. His goal wasn't revenge, or even to destroy the world, like so many others. Then there is his mysterious past with Cloud, not the typical, "we used to be rivals," or, "we used to be friends."
Cloud is hands down the top protagonist of any of the FF games.

CDLviking wrote:His goal wasn't revenge, or even to destroy the world, like so many others.
Well, depends on how you define "destroying the world." I'd say that causing a wound so large that the planet is forced to eradicate all life on it in order to bring more spirit energy to heal the wound classifies as "destroying the world."
To me though, ultimately, his goal was to become a god. Typical egocentric bad guy, nothing original there to me.
Then there is his mysterious past with Cloud, not the typical, "we used to be rivals," or, "we used to be friends."
Eh, I dunno. I've played lots of games where the major villain didn't know the hero. Wild ARMs is a good example of this, Zeikfried didn't even know the humans going against him until about halfway through the game. *shameless Wild ARMs plug*
Cloud is hands down the top protagonist of any of the FF games.
Everyone seems to say this, but I disagree. Cloud was the whiniest, angstiest emo kid that ever lived. Heck, Cloud is like the POSTER BOY of emo kids. "Wah, I don't know who I am, nobody likes me, my life sucks." Granted, Cloud DID get better at the end of the game. I admit that. However, up until after the Lifestream, Cloud was annoying and whiny.
I much prefer Zidane from 9. I even like his character quote. "You don't need a reason to help people." Though Cecil from 4 was good too, the guy who had chosen the path of darkness and thought he was too blood-stained to be a warrior of light. I dunno. Just not Cloud (though I did like Cloud more than Squall from 8...*waits to get jumped by FF8 fans* XP).

Cloud was cool when he got his real personlaity back.
BTW, Nate, I thought that was like a projection of Sephiroth from him. I didn`t know that was Jenova.
It seems all the crappy main characters become cool when the story continues.

If people don't know what happens in FFVII yet, then they're probably never going to actually play the game for themselves. Besides, peeking around in a thread about a game you've never played is just begging to have a plot element spoiled and it's your own fault.
However, on the flip side, it's not really necessary to just blurt out random key events. There's no need to be secretive about the game, but you can still attempt to be vague.

Raghh I got this game not to long ago and now im stuck breeding chocobos... It sucks LOL But i do have to say this game is pretty awesome...As far as sephy being the best villian... I think he is... He is not overly original but at the same time he seems fresh, and his background story kinda blows you away in a way no other villians has for me.
As for cloud being the best main chracter... NO WAY I would have to agree that he is All angsty and EMO especially in Advent Children ... it gets on your nerves.
Yes And Shia definitely check out #9 it was my first Final fantasy and my definite favourite! Vivi is such a cool charry!

Never once has Cloud struck me as EMO....
He seems more laid back to me. Maybe he seems more EMO in Advent Children, but in the game, he's not EMO in any way. At least not yet.

Tina/Terra = Best protagonist cause shes a girl ^___^
Then again... FF6 had a lot of protagonists... each person had their own story =D
Remember, Kefka isn't the only villan, so was the empire. Its just that Kefka kinda took control of everything.
I absolutely love Cecil. He is my man.
A lot of characters had silver hair before cloud... like.... a LOT...if anything Sephiroth deviated from other random characters.
I mean, cloud is kinda unoriginal. You see all those TV shows where the main protagonist is all suffering from a mental breakdown and stuff. You see cloud having those mental breakdowns a lot
