Will I need mod chips to play them?

Not for the DS, but there is a boot disk you can use for import GC games that'll run you about $15-20. I'd give you the name, but I think it can also be used for pirated GC games so I don't wish to incur the wrath of mod by mentioning it ^^;

I am positive its safe to name it. For its nearly impossible to pirate gamecube games. Well MUCH harder than like a ps2 game. To pirate a gamecube game will cost you loads of money, more than buying the actual game. So doing so isn't really worth it.

Also I don't know if you can pirate stuff. I own the bootdisc, and never heard of being able tp pirate such things.

It is called a freeloader. Ya can get it at like play-asia.com
