Which Games Did You get for Christmas?

i made a thread for people to discuss the games they just recieved on Christmas and to give their opinion on that particular game so far. I will probably ressurect this thread again in Christmas 2006.

Anyways mine were:

Dragon Quest VIII

So far the music is pretty good and the graphics are done to perfection. The battle system is pretty basic and the VAs are awesome for some characters and um bad for others. Valentina...oo lala. I`m just kidding.

Final Fantasy XII Demo -Comes with Dragon Quest VIII-

Come on guys this battle system is wicked fun. The only problum is the title says 'Final Fantasy'. If Square made this game seperate to the rest of the series and made it a sidegame of some sort I would feel more comfortable.

The battle system would become more fun if you could spead it up.

Full Metal Alchemist and the Broken Angel

I needed a game like this. This game is highly underrated just many other games I have played. The Alchemy system is awesome and the anime cutscenes rock.

All of those games interest me RocketShipper. Although I would apreciate it if you gave your opinion on each of those games.

(Viewtiful Joe. And indirectly, Megaman Battle Network 5: Team Colonel. We've had that for a while, but it's my brother's and he has his wonderful file there. I also have Team Protoman (because Buruusu pwns), but due to a mixup a friend of his took it and left his here. So now since Bud has Double Teamed, I may have a file on Team Colonel.)

(I may get a few other games. I would have gotten Path of Radiance, but we're just going to borrow it from a friend. But, alas, there's nothing that terribly intrests me unless I get a DS, which I'm going to wait a bit longer for.)

I'll have to play them first ^^. I probably won't for a while either, because I was in the middle of replaying the Parasite Eve games (the first one ROCKS!), and I like to focus on one game at a time.

I got Mario Kart DS.

I asked for DDR Mario Mix, but my parents couldn't find it (said the game got recalled O_o ), so they gave me money to get something else. I'm gettin' Jump Superstars instead.

The only problum is the title says 'Final Fantasy'. If Square made this game seperate to the rest of the series and made it a sidegame of some sort I would feel more comfortable.

You don't know how much statements like that annoy me...

DDR Mario Mix is horrible, IMO. It's so easy it's not even funny. Not even Super Hard mode, the unlockable difficulty, is much of a challenge. Of course, if you can't get another DDR game, go with this, but DDR Extreme 1 and 2 and Ultramix 1 and 2 are better, me thinks.

I know. That's why I wanted it. Of course, I'm finding more and more reasons I want to get a PS2 (like DDR, Shadow of the Colossus, KH 1 and 2, FFX...).

EDIT: I did it! I boughted "Jump! Super Stars". :D

How does it annoy you myoti? FFXII is more like an Action RPG. It isn`t even turnbased. This this incredible change in gameplay havin under its own individual title would be better. Like "Final Fantasy: Journey of Ivalice" or something.

Actually later on in the day i got another videogame.

Romancing SaGa - PS2

Certainly has been voted the best SaGa videogame to date which doesn`t say much.
The combat system is fun an traditional the characters look funny with their bobblehead appearence.
The plot is done quite nicely. The only complain I have is that you cannot communicate with Civillian NPCs which would normally give it a more realistic feel, but the NPCs will just walk around in circles. It`s actaully funny.
I recommend this game for any RPG fan that wants a nerver-ending RPG experioence. There are 8 characters with thir own stroy and each of those characters` stories take up the normal amount of time it would take to beat a real RPG.

I am stuck on the first bosss in DQVIII because his attacks do the same amount of damage as my HP (30). DQVIII is hard so watch out!

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

I got some cash and a gift card also so I'll probably get another game or two later.

DDR: Mario Mix may be easy, but it's a good start for beginners (like me >_>... *cough*) The stupid mat get's annoying, slippery, or sticky, depending on the condition of your feet

Lets see... Suikoden IV, which is much different than the other 3. The fights are more organized, better rgaphics, you can actually moce like you're in a 3d world, instead of just left and right, ummm.. Yeah havn't gotten too far in it yet.

Fire emblem: Path of radiance. Weird fighting style o.0 It's like a strategy game. anyways I'm not going to get into that one because my brother's taking it back home with him after the holidays :P

LOZ, Four swords. Yeah yeah i know, old game. But whatcha gonna do?

Tales of Symphonia: Again, another old game. but I've only ever played my friends game and I loved it so I got one for christmas :D

Last, and the only game I actually havn't tried ye is Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. So I can't sya a whole lot aobut this one yet.

Seriously, Myoti why did my statement annoy you?

MasterDias, I can openly admit that DQ8 is on my top 5 rpgs tied with Chrono Cross.

RPG players all over america with PS2s, THIS GAME ROCKS!!!

It`s also my first and probably my only Dragon Quest game.

There is DQIX coming out on PS3.

The way you said it would have been a fine game minus the Final Fantasy title.
I dunno. It just sounds like some people don't like change in it, or whatever...

PostPosted: Mon Dec 26, 2005 6:08 pm

No, I like the change but it is completely out of FF`s genre. Myoti, it isn`t even turnbased.

So?

Neither was Crystal Chronicles.

EXACTLY, CC was a side game. That is what FF12 shoudl`ve been.

Sooooo... you don't think S-E should make a change to the same system they've been using for the past, what, 12 games? It does get kinda old after awhile, and I respect them for trying something new. But hey, if it doesn't work, they can always go back to the old style.

Now, back on topic...

FFXII is not coming out till late summer, there's plenty of time for them to get feedback considering a million Americans own DQVIII now.

Oh, no, I must tell Josh not to get it!!!!!

Anyways, Myoti, I would agree with a change but they should`ve at least still made it turnbased.

On another note, FFX already was a battle system tweak as it was. Still, not turnbased? That`s not a straightforward FF game.

Actually FFX's battle system is the original turn based from the very start of the series. It's true turn based not ATB style like in just about every other Final Fantasy.
