Favorite Final Fantasy Charicter

ok cause im bored i want to know. What charicter is your favorite, out of all the final fantasy games, includeing tactics as well. aaaaaaaaand probably why.
So as for my own, I pick Sabin from Final fantasy three (i dont remember nor care what it is in japan, cause im American and i didn't play the japanese version). He was strong and his ability to use a non MP draining attack from the backrow (halfs damage you recieve) without sacraficeing half of his attack power was a giant advantage. Plus he was kind of the type to continueously look for self improvement. and the sequence were he held a house up so Celes could resque a kid was cool. Anyway. thats my pick... i really hope i didn't miss a thread about this already, if i did. just ... tell me or something.

Sephiroth (The coolest), or Orlandu(By far the most powerful NPC you can control in any FF game, for an extended period of time) can't...decide...

Ummm..... Auron or Vincent for combat. Why? I like guns and katanas! Shadow was cool too. Wait, how could I forget? CID! He's been in 80% of the FF games. lol

Yeah, you could just answer "Cid" and give absolutely no information whatsoever.
On my part, I'll have to think about it. The nominees are:
1. Sephiroth
2. Vincent
3. Auron
4. Shadow
I guess, in the end, I'll go with Auron. All characters I mentioned are cool, but that's the way I'm going to go. Sephiroth has a really high coolness rating, but face it: he's nuts. Shadow is cool but his ending is... yeah. And Vincent has it all except he doesn't use a sword, and I don't like his transformations all that much. Shame.

I like the Red Mage from the old FF(s)

I think I'll go with Auron as well. He's an excellent fighter who can hold his own in combat and he always seems to know more then he's telling as he guides Tidus and Yuna.
I like Shadow and Vincent as well. Both were pretty cool and both had tragic backstories.
I liked Adelbert Steiner in FF IX. He was a hilarious character.
FF IX had the most comedy of any of the FF's.
hey

Sephiroth by far is the best in Final Fantasy VII. I heard about that they rated Final Fantasy VII the best RPG game ever. I love that game

Ok ... one. This is hard!
I think I liked Tifa the best. She was unselfish, caring, and protective. She was willing to follow the guy she loved through anything (and that was quite a lot!) and stay with him no matter what. She also respected the fact that he may be in love with someone else. (can anyone tell that I'm a sap yet?) Superficial things: I love her hair and she's a kickboxer. She didn't however, lack in the fashion department. And I do mean
lack.
Aww, look, it's doing the Final Heaven!

Eh, I've only played the first three (US), so my choices are limited. I liked Rydia from FF2 (US). Her ability to summon monsters (call magic) was a new concept at that time (for me at least) in an RPG and I thought it was pretty cool.

Hmm. That's tough. I don't think I can do that. Probably Rikku, just because she is SUCH a spaz case.

Hey, I did narrow down my list and choose one in the end. I just didn't want to not give a nod to all my other favorite characters.

*fidgets before deciding to cheat*
I also liked Yuffie, Cloud, Irvine, Lulu, Rikku, and Quistis!

FFX was very good. I especially liked the fact that the whole story is narrated by Tidus.
They hadn't ever done that before.

Hmm... My favorite FF character? Shadow, prolly...
"He'd Slit his mama's throat for a nickel"
Even though that's probably not what the original game said (all the American games in the nintendo era were drastically altered) that quote still makes me laugh...
Oh, and I like Laguna too, even if he is too girly. His life is so tragic... He's a lot more interesting than squall or Cloud in my opinion.
Trailing close behind them are Aeris and Locke... Locke, actually may rank first depending on my mood. He's just cool all the way around. Oh, and there are a lot of other characters that have that American sense of cool, I'm more reffering to a Geek's sense of cool. Basically a real human being.

My favorite is....Tifa Lockheart from FFVII, she not only has a great personality but outside of Cloud is the best fighter in the game, in my opinion. Also she stood by the one she loved. I think thats what makes the perfect rpg character.
A close second would be Beatrix from FFIX, you cannot argue with the coolness of the hair flip

Actually, it's not even 3 in the US anymore... Try "Final Fantasy Anthology" and "Final Fantasy Chronicles"
Together they have FF4 (which you know as 2) FF5 (which didn't get released in the US before the PS release) and FF6 (which you know as 3) as well as Chrono Trigger.
I'd suggest you play them, but despite FF5 not being released on SNES, it did have the same translation staff, so the translation for it is rediculous... The fan translation was so much of a higher quality...
Oh, and FF4 may be a new translation than the FF2 translation from SNES days, because our SNES FF2 is actually a translation of FF4 easytype minus a few major scenes. The Playstation version is FF4 hardtype with all of the scenes intact, so it may be a new translation (you'll know if it is if there are hints that Rosa and Cecil are, well, not keeping their pre-marriage relationship pure...)
In anycase, you should check out the PS version of FF6 if only for the really cool opening and ending CG scenes... And, you should play 5 even if it is the horrible Woolsey translation just so you can get another cool story that you never had a chance to play. Also, the REAL final fantasy 2 was also release along with a reworking of 1 on PS both with movie sequences, but the real cool thing is the supernintendo and in a couple cases playstation calibur upgrades... so yeah, you may want to broaden your ff fandom... I have played all of them, and 6 is still my all time fave... I like 8 and 10 as well (don't like 7 much...) and I almost beat 3 (the REAL 3 for Famicom/Nintendo) but I got stuck in the mountains with that stupid mountain Jumping ship (I think that game had the most forms of transportation, either that or 5...)

I liked Yuffie from FFVII, Laguna from FFVIII, and Zidane from FFIX.

I loved Tifa too. I mean, I just have this thing for unrequited love. Sure, everyone can debate about how Cloud was in love with Aeris, but she just liked him because she reminded him of her ex. Tifa fell in love with the shy little boy from Nibelheim. She just had a great personality too.
The end made me mad! Could there BE any more romantic tension?
And Sepiroth was cool, I love really twisted villains. But he gets so overrated sometimes its annoying. My boyfriend adores the guy. o_o;

Actually, I agree with you that Sephiroth is often overrated. Still, though, I find it interesting that our reasoning is basically opposite. I dislike Sephiroth
because he's twisted.

Yup! (alright, another Tifa fan!)
And the end made me mad too! Just when ... *covers her mouth before spoilers fly out*
I have been hearing growing rumors about a sequel to FFVII. I don't know if there's anything behind them or not ...

There probably won't be a FFVII sequal anytime soon. Square has said that they aren't planning one currently.
Actually, I've always considered FFVII to have a pretty complete if somewhat abrupt ending.
FFVIII on the other hand...

They probobly wont make a sequel any time soon, it would mean recreating the whole system and that takes time.
As for FFVII's ending, it was created as an open ending according to the square team....untill the time they create a sequel the player is allowed to create his own ideas what happens to Cloud and the gang.
The oppeness of FFVII is something I always liked, especially since im a Tifa fan. Its often seen by some that Cloud realises he does love her. But I dont wanna add any spoilers ^^;;;

As to Bobtheducks comment and sugestion. i've played both of those versions. As for the ff5 i stopped playing it, it was boreing and it didn't interest me at all. I've played Chrono Trigger more times then i can count , it was the very first rpg i ever played. As for its 6 in America too. Bah i say, for it still says three on my snes cartrage.

Yeah, I kinda agree, though it is dissapoint in some respects, but it's different than the usual ending. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's artistically done well.

My all time favorite Final Fantasy Character: Rydia from FF2/4j
Why? I have many parallels with her so I related quite well. One, I lost my father when I was but a baby, so there's the missing parent aspect. Two, she was forced to grow up too quickly. Three, she has a great inner strength that is not found in others. Four, she's as quick and smart as a whip. Lastly, it's FUN to blow up baddies with "Flare".
Other fave characters: Edge (FF2/4j), Celes (FF3/6j), Locke (FF3/6j), and Quitsis (FF8). Hehehe... I'm a sap for drama - they're all relatively tragic characters in their own rights. Me = drama queen.
