A game you wish they'd make...

...but probably never will.

I can think of two.

'Earthbound 2'
I thought Earthbound for the SNES was hilariously funny, but I guess it didn't sell well in the US. They started a sequel once for the N64, but it died. Right now I can only play with Ness in SSBM, but I wish they'd make an Earthbound sequel.

'Cookie & Cream 2 (double-stuffed)'
Hehe, okay so they probably wouldn't call it that...then again, maybe they would! Cookie & Cream. This obscure game of the PS2 was both bizarre and really fun as a two player cooperative game. It obviously didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel. Pity.

What games do you wish they'd make?

Actually, the Earthbound for SNES is Earthbound 2.

The original Earthbound, called Mother in Japan, was for the original NES. The sequel, Mother 2, was released for the SNES and called Earthbound in America.

The original Mother 1 and 2 were recently rereleased in Japan, but unfortunately there are no plans that I know of to rerelease them in America. Boo!

A Turrican remake.

A Shogo-MAD sequel.

A futurisitic anime style RPG like Morrowind! Why does it always have to be fantasy worlds, why not a futuristic world with Mecha?

:)

Oooo! I want a Shogo MAD sequel too!

"Great! Now I'm a pigeon!"

Amazing game, loved it. Did you get a chance to play multiplayer? My bro and I used to serial link two PC's and go at it. Not only was there mech on mech combat but the human levels were far too much fun - we used to do knife only levels and there was nothing scarier than having half your health and someone hot on your heals with a tanto!

Oh, I guess I didn't really answer the question, did I?

Okay, I want a REAL sequel to Chrono Trigger. A REAL ONE! Chrono Cross COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY DESTROYED THE CHRONO TRIGGER UNIVERSE! YOU PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED! I WANT MY SEQUEL! I HEREBY DECLARE CHRONO CROSS TO NOT BE PART OF THE CT UNIVERSE!

Er, sorry.

And a new Wild ARMs game would be nice, too. Ooh, and a sequel to Mario RPG for SNES! That game deserved a REAL sequel, not Paper Mario. And I wouldn't complain if there were a new Arc the Lad game, either. Oh, and Brave Fencer Musashi!

yupyup, earthbound for snes is mother 2. The first one was for the nes.

good games they were, excellent games. And mother 3 was suppsoed to be for n64, but it didn't go well as planned. http://www.starmen.net has more info on it (it's a earthbound site, i belong there, and post occasionally)

Hmm...a game they'd make? Another, REAL Harvest Moon game. Not AWL, not STH. But a REAL ONE.

I would like to see virtual pet games make a return to consoles/PC.

A game I've had in mind which I would like to see made goes something like this:

  • A RPG game with a mix of adventure and strategy (like Harvest Moon)
  • You can choose to be a tenant or a warrior
  • If you choose to be a tenant you can: farm, raise animals, provide shelter for travelers (this could be considered as the Harvest Moon part of the game)
  • If you choose to be a warrior you would play the adventure RPG portion of the game: travel the world and rid of [some kind of] evil, or do some fighting for some other means
  • You can switch back and forth from being a tenant to a warrior BUT BEWARE! If you have previously played as a warrior at any time, you will have encounters with your enemies (ex. a gang shows up at you door one night which you would have to fight off).
  • However, your life from warrior to tenant isn't threatened for long, there's only a period of 30 days.
  • Your life as a tenant isn't completely peaceful either; you'll have the occasional thief or stray animal looking for a meal (either for your other animals or your garden)
  • Oh yeah, some of the animals you raise can be bought by warriors to aid them on their travels.

That's all I can think of right now. Ideas like this make me wish I was a game developer. Okay I go now, brain's tired :eh:

A SONIC RPG!!!!! They have a Mario RPG, and a Disney RPG. I think this would be the next logical step, ne?

Resident Evil ENDGAME: The Fall of Umbrella
I haven't played RE4 yet, but IT'S STILL SUCH A COPOUT! They build up such a crescendo in the previous RE games, whetting every gamers appetite for what comes next, and THEY SKIP OVER THE GRAND SHOWDOWN? This ticks me off. This is what I WISH the storyline WOULD be about: The T-virus is out of control, and as it is rapidly spread through every nation in the world heralding the apocalypse, the surviving characters, Jill, Chris, Barry, Leon, Claire, Carlos, ect. gather for the final showdown against Umbrella and their evil nemesis Albert Wesker. IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO AWESOME!
*RANT ENDED*

REMAKES of the SNES Final Fantasy Trilogy (IV, V, and VI)

Actually, there is a Brave Fencer Musashi sequel in the works ]Game[/i]cube, especially given the fact that Nintendo has given basically zero support to online gaming since PSO (which was made by Sega's Sonic Team).

I wish they would make a good Tintin game for Tintinologists that are older than 5 years old. It would also be great for the novel I'm working on to be made into a game.

"Run you pigeons! It's Robert Frost...again!"

I would like to see a sequel to "Grim Fandango" by LucasArts. It is the best adventure game ever made. Or at least one of them. But the sequel should not have the original characters from the first game. I would prefer an all-new cast and star. Too bad, though. I'd miss Manuel Calavera as a protoganist.

Grim Fandango is the only game LucasArts ever released that did not make a profit, so chances of that happening is slim. Howabout a movie?

As a fan of Tintin Graphic novels as well, I agree whole heartedly. Most Tintin games are worthless.

I wish they would make a Cookie's and Cream 2. That was such an awesome game! I and my cousin always played it when he came over... But, we beat it. Now we need to find a new game..

A sequel to, duh duh duh duh...Bolo. Yeah, on a handheld with online multiplayer. Kudos to the Mac fans who remember this game.

An original game I'd like to see made is a DDR-esque game that uses this keyboard, or some other hybrid keyboard. It would be a combination of a typing program (with minigames ala Mario Teaches typing), and a piano-teaching program, with theory, lessons, sheet-music galore (c'mon, so much music is public domain for the piano, you could have 100's if not 1000's of pieces), and online multiplayer akin to DDR. It might be cool to have a scrolling note system (vertically) akin to DDR's as an option for those who don't read sheet music well. Also, it would be nice to have a music making software package in there to be able to make midi files that you could upload to a server, download to your computer, and then mix with your favorite music mixing program (Acid, Frooty Loops, Reason, etc.). That'd be pretty cool to see come to a console, or maybe PC. Especially if it gave you the option to hook up your own midi keyboard.

If anyone knows of some programs close to the one described above, let me know, as I'd be interested in what people have done in this regard.

Wow. I'm surprised at how many wanted to make games based on their own story ideas. Me too. Only one other person played Cookie and Cream huh? Why am I not surprised?

And yes, I did know the Earthbound games were Mother 1 and 2. But correct me if i'm wrong, wasn't Mother 2 the only one to make it here? Plus, they called it Earthbound, not Earthbound 2.
So in my twisted logic, a sequel would either be considered Earthbound 2(US), or Mother 3(JPN). They sure made that confusing.

Actually, there is a Mother 3 in the works for the GBA. Whether it will be released outside of Japan is another matter entirely.

another adult Link game. Ocarina and Majora were great games, but i need something new for the great Gamecube. (cbwing0, you're cool man, but do not diss the Cube...it's all i got...)

Starcraft Two. Not GHOST, which will be a fine game, but an actual StarCraft Two. Why no one else has said this, i do not know why.

I WANT TEKKEN FOR THE CUBE!!!!

Sorry, i needed to say that. The Tekken series is an awesome game; i believe it is the truest fighting game out there. Too many other games depends on range attacks instead of actual melee.

A Star Wars game that plays like HomeWorld. 3-D strategy games are awesome. By the way, are there any others besides Homeworld?

Well I can't promise not to diss the Gamecube (after all, the PS2 is all I've got), but I can add another game that I would like to see made.

I would really like to see the next Rogue Squadron game on the PS2. Releasing Battlefront on the PS2 is a step in the right direction, so hopefully it won't be the only good Star Wars game on the PS2 for very long.

I was about to, you just beat me to it. :D That would be super if they made another Starcraft, with new graphics and units and races and everything, kind of like they did Warcraft 3. I would so buy that.

Also, another Tokyo Xtreme Racer! I had this for Dreamcast and it is my favorite racing game ever, and if they made another then I would be a very happy camper.

I dont guess this really counts, but it would be cool if Sega made another console. The Dreamcast wasn't bad, and had some awesome games on it. It also pioneered online gaming. Go Dreamcast!

According to the media so far, the next Zelda IS going to have an adult Link with a much more gritty, medieval feel. I take it you weren't a Windwaker fan. <shrugs> Your loss.

Hmhmhmhehe, my kind of thread. Although I'll confess that Fable is an alright game, as it goes, I want more control over my fighting and less control over my level-ups. The best leveling up I've ever experienced was with Holy Magic Century for the N64. The best fighting I've ever survived, or not, as the case may have been, would have to be the Tekken series. Although I don't see how you'd fit that degree of manipulation into an RPG... The problem with Fable's fighting is that I'm just mushing the button, not hacking and slashing the opponent. SC2 was a good fighter, but it was still somehow leagues behind Tekken. A Fable-based MMORPG would be neat. Sorry, I play three kinds of games: FPS, RPG, and the one-on-one fighting. RTS is a handy little side-adventure every once in a while, and sports games are just a waste of time. May as well be out actually working off some of that flub rather than gaining more in front of the video-game.

Anyway, there's my spiel on the whole thing.

I'd like a game that combines RPG and simulation. You could play as a medieval lord, and set up the economy in your village/town/city. When you run short on funds, you could send some knights out to get treasure. The knights would be unique each time you play, as you could customize their stats and personalities. They'd level up and get new gear every time you send tehm out on a quest. The game's structure would be open enough for you to play almost exclusively as the knights, or leave it up to AI and command the village serfs to do your bidding.

Then I hereby disown you... If you payed attention to CC, you'd realize it was the ONLY sequal there could ever be. The fates of the central characters (Chrono, Marle, Lucca, Magus/Janus, Schala) are explained and the history of the world explained. I'm so sick of people badmouthing this game. It was different looking... So friggin what... Yeah. It didn't have the story? No, it did... People didn't pay close enough attention... Chrono Cross was a bit more philisophical and cerebral than Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross was made with the hopes that the Chrono Trigger fans had grown a bit. Obviously they haven't. It somehow didn't live up to Chrono Trigger? Please... Do you want a Chrono clone? I don't really know you, but I am guessing that deep down, you don't want that. That's called "fanservice" and it is a "dis"-service.

BTW, I'm just joking about disowning you. I just get passionate about defending the things I enjoy, particularly when I see them attacked for no reason or for very weak reasons. Sorry if I came across as harsh... It's the curse of textual communication. (is textual a word?)

I'd love to see a remake of the two canonical commando games with stronger narrative. Oh, and let's get rid of the name "Super Joe" it's just lame... Well, I guess you can keep it if you really work at making it fit... that's gonna be a lot of work, though.

I'd love to see mother make a US apprearance... I think that when it was brought to the Super Famicom (as Mother 2 or earthbound) it got too cutesy... Mother was weird, and it had more style than Mother 2.

I'd really love to see a PS2 or PS3 remake of the two MSX metal gear games. Show all the ignoarant MG fans in the US what metal gear really was.

I want a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil. The game ended like it might have a sequel, but the first didn't sell very well so I'm not sure.

I hope it comes to America because Earth Bound was my favorite classic RPG.
